The Man D.C. Just Honored with a Statue Says a LOT About Them

“By their statues, you shall know them.” Who Washington, D.C. has decided to honor and how they intend to honor him really does say a lot about folks in D.C. And none of it is good.

From Free Beacon:

Former Washington, D.C. mayor and city council member Marion Barry will have a statue erected in his memory on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Barry, a Democrat, served four terms as mayor of DC from 1979 to 1991 and again from 1995 to 1999. He served several terms as a member of the D.C. City Council and did so until his death in 2014.

But the world didn’t come to know Marion Barry for his policy or political decisions.

Barry rose to national attention after the FBI filmed him in 1990 smoking crack cocaine with a former girlfriend, as part of a sting operation. His defense after being arrested was, “Bitch set me up.”

But even after all that, after he went to prison and got out, he ran again.

And guess what the people of D.C. did? They voted him in again.

It wasn’t just taking cocaine and spending time in hotel rooms with hookers.

He had a small problem being accused of corruption and being racist against Asians.

The perfect person for D.C. to honor. Even after all his troubles, they still referred to him as “Mayor for Life.” He was praised by several members of the city council. Shows what they really think is important.

The statue which is eight feet tall is scheduled was unveiled this weekend.

The present mayor, Mayor Muriel Bowser, invited people to the ceremony.

Some in media tried to clean up his legacy.

Others were a little more honest.

The city was a pit of crime and garbage while he was mayor, but why let that bother Democrats?

No word yet on if they intend to include a crack pipe or a hooker as part of the statue…
