Oprah Winfrey used to be friendly with President Donald Trump. But as with many Democrats, once he ran for office as a Republican, that friendship went out the window and he became someone they needed to paint as an enemy. Oprah Winfrey ran a roundtable of Michigan voters on CBS where she grilled them about how they thought Trump was doing as President with questions designed to attack him. And Trump responded, letting Winfrey know what he thought of her actions.
Winfrey quizzed the Michigan voters, seven of whom had voted for Trump and seven who hadn’t. While she asked all 14 questions, she grilled the Trump supporters more and put more pressure on them to justify Trump’s actions with questions that were predictably geared against Trump.
From Daily Mail:
‘Okay, so polls are showing that respect for the United States is eroding around the world. Do you care what the world thinks of the United States?’ Winfrey asked.
Winfrey’s next question: ‘There have been some members of Congress, including Republicans, questioning his stability and fitness for office. What do you think of that, and do you believe he has the temperament to be president?’
Trump called out her remarks on the show, calling it a “biased, incorrect’ with voters.
Most prior interviews with Trump supporters have shown that most are still supportive of him, as most of those questioned still seemed to be.
“Just watched a very insecure Oprah Winfrey, who at one point I knew very well, interview a panel of people on 60 Minutes. The questions were biased and slanted, the facts incorrect. Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!”
Democrats recently have talked about Oprah as a presidential candidate to challenge Trump in 2020.
She said she was “stunned” by the speculation. She has denied having any interest, saying she “doesn’t have the DNA” for the job.
‘I am actually humbled by the fact that people think I could be the leader of the free world, but it’s just not in my spirit,’ Winfrey said. ‘It’s not in my DNA.’
‘I was just trying to give a good speech,’ the talk show host said. ‘I was looking for a way to express what was going on in this moment in terms of gender and class and race.’
Trump said he would beat Winfrey if she actually ran.
