Now that the Russia collusion theory has imploded, all that liberals and liberal media are left with is pushing Russian bot stories. Is there nothing that Russian bots cannot do? Apparently not, at least according to CNN.
On Friday, CNN promoted a story claiming that Russian bots were now spreading ‘pro-gun stories’ in the wake of the high school shooting in Parkland, Florida to “sow discord.”
How do they know this?
This claim is coming from the “Alliance for Securing Democracy.” This is the organization that some in media are now using for their claims that Russian bots are pushing stories.
Who are they?
According to CNN:
The alliance is a group housed at The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) think tank to “defend against, deter, and raise the costs on Russian and other actors’ efforts to undermine democracy and democratic institutions,” according to its mission statement.
The group does not disclose which accounts it tracks and CNN has not independently verified its findings.
Among the hashtags and topics related to the shooting are #falseflag, #fbi, #gunreformnow, #fbigate, #parklandschoolshooting, the name of the shooter — Nikolas Cruz — and Florida.
They make this claim but then refuse to point out what accounts they’re claiming are actually Russian bots? How many or what percentage of the traffic is ‘Russian bots?’ They could claim this and it could be twenty accounts out of thousands.
And CNN can’t themselves verify any of this themselves but run with this story anyway?
Then they point out the hashtags so as to impugn anyone who might use them when one has to assume those hashtags might be used by virtually anyone? (Except for #falseflag, if you’re using that delete your account).
Do you take everyone for fools? Apparently so.
People chastised CNN for their nonsense.
And this tweeter makes the perfect point about how spreading nonsense like this actually serves the Russian cause.
Hey, CNN, strangely enough, a lot of Americans care about the Second Amendment and have been tweeting about it or posting about it on social media.
Russians/Soviet Union have been trying to sow discord in the United States for decades, mostly through leftist protest movements. While Russians may have spread discord on social media accord to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s indictments and according to Facebook, more AFTER the election to attack the legitimacy of President Donald Trump, it has been liberals and liberal media who have complied with pushing the narrative to millions beyond social media.
When they do this especially without proof, they are serving the Russian agenda and promoting the discord of which they complain. They are being ‘useful idiots’ to use the old term and according Russia more power than they deserve.
