Troubling news from New York about the Trump family.
Donald Trump, Jr’s wife, Vanessa, has been sent to the hospital for decontamination after opening a letter that had a mysterious white substance in it.
Around 10 a.m., Vanessa Trump opened the letter addressed to her husband in the couple’s apartment on East 54th Street in Manhattan and was exposed to the powder.
Two other people who were there were also taken to New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center.
At this point, it is unclear what the powder was and it is not known if it was harmful or not.
The people were taken for decontamination as a precaution.
The couple has five children. It is not known if any of them were at home at the time or exposed to the powder.
The Secret Service is investigating.
There are multiple threats in a constant stream against President Donald Trump and members of his family on social media.
The Secret Service say they are tracking from six to eight per day just against Trump himself, nevermind his family.
The threats include everything from people jumping the fence at the White House to threatening specific harm.
The threats include emails, social media postings and someone reporting a suspicious statement, said U.S. Secret Service Director Randolph “Tex” Alles in his first briefing since taking office in April.
All threats against a president or a protectee are investigated by the Secret Service, said Alles, although he said many individuals later walk back their threatening statements or the threats are found to lack serious intent. Others are referred to the U.S. Attorney for prosecution.
