There’s something really disturbing in California. It’s not the recent mudslides and fires, or the threat of earthquakes but the disturbing policies and politicians the state produces. And therefore, if these are the policies and politicians being accepted and elected, one has to believe something is amiss with the general population in California. Remember, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan are from California, Reagan was a former governor of the state. What happened?
We know California has declared itself a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants. We recently shared with you a constitutional amendment being proposed by two California assemblymen that would tax 50 percent of the profits of corporations from the new tax cut law. Why on Earth would any corporation want to have its headquarters there?
And now there’s another example of the delusional mindset of a California legislator.
As reported by Townhall.com, “Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) introduced the “Journalist Protection Act” in the House Monday which would make attacking or intimidating journalists a federal crime. Swalwell claims President Trump has created a “toxic atmosphere” for journalists and his legislation is needed for their protection. The bill makes it a federal crime “to intentionally cause bodily injury to a journalist affecting interstate or foreign commerce in the course of reporting or in a manner designed to intimidate him or her from newsgathering for a media organization,” and “represents a clear statement that assaults against people engaged in reporting is unacceptable, and helps ensure law enforcement is able to punish those who interfere with news gathering.”
“President Donald Trump’s campaign and administration have created a toxic atmosphere,” Swalwell claimed. “It’s not just about labelling reports of his constant falsehoods as #FakeNews – it’s his casting of media personalities and outlets as anti-American targets, and encouraging people to engage in violence.”
Swalwell cited Trump referring to “fake news” reporting by mainstream media outlets as “a stain on America,” and some mainstream media outlets as “the enemy of the American People.”
Just so y’all know, here are the co-sponsors of Rep. Swalwell’s legislation: Reps. Steve Cohen (TN), Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC), Gwen Moore (WI) aaaaand… Maxine Waters (CA).
That tells me all that I need to know, and it should tell you as well.
Mind you, it was the Obama administration that did more to suppress the free press. Remember when former CBS New correspondent dropped a bombshell that her computer and phone were being hacked while she tried to report the truth about the Benghazi scandal? As well, Obama sought to levy criminal charges against a member of the press, James Rosen of Fox News. But, I guess that is ok, after all it is Fox News.
How often did the Obama administration stonewall Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests? But no legislation was offered then. This is what California Rep. Swalwell doesn’t seem to understand — the greater portion of America realizes the liberal progressive media is nothing more than a propaganda arm for the new American Socialist Party, formerly known as the Democrats. And to have a president who points out the false stories being promulgated by the leftwing media is not an attack. It’s simply the truth!
For instance, Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer came out before the SOTU address and made the absurd assertion that President Trump should say “Thanks Obama” for the economy. That was a talking point parroted all over the left wing progressive media. However, now that we have a market correction, a downturn, the highest one-day drop in the markets…the media is out blaming President Trump. Ya know, Barack Obama inherited such a bad economy from George W. Bush, but any glimmer of economic growth is supposed to be attributed to Obama…after eight years of abhorrent, almost non-existent economic growth?
Yes Rep. Swalwell, the left wing progressive media lives in an alternate universe and they’re being called out on it. When has the liberal progressive media EVER stated that DACA was an unconstitutional executive action? Or how widely were the brutal murders of the two teenage girls by MS-13 in Long Island reported by the mainstream liberal progressive media? This is the frustration of the American people with a “free press” that has become a state press — actually an extension of the progressive socialist left and the Democrat Party.
So, I get it, Rep. Swalwell, your definition of a free press is a press free to do what they want, meaning misreport and be irresponsible in order to proliferate and enable the ideological agenda of the progressive socialist left. You don’t give a doggone if these are media outlets are biased, and actually lying on some occasions. You don’t want the American people protected from lies, deceit, distortion and blatant omission of truth…you want the liars and deceivers protected — how grand of you, sir.
As stated, there’s something wrong in California, hence why we shouldn’t allow it to be exported, to spread to other parts of our Constitutional Republic.
