I wrote my assessment of President Trump’s State of the Union address yesterday. However, it’s always interesting to sit back and await the response emanating from the progressive socialist left. And boy howdy, did I find a doozy of a response coming from our dear friends over at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
As reported by CNS News, “The American Civil Liberties Union — note the word “American” in its title — complained Tuesday night about President Trump’s repeated use of the word “America” in his State of the Union speech.
In a written response to Trump’s speech, Faiz Shakir, the ACLU’s national political director, said: Tonight, President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. Yet, after a divisive first year, we hear and feel how exclusionary that ‘America’ is, with policies that have harmed so many vulnerable American communities. The ACLU stands ready to protect these communities, both in the courts and at the polls. In particular, the immigration plan put forth by Trump would hold Dreamers hostage to his demands for a harmful border wall and an even larger mass deportation force. We are at this crossroads because of the President’s deeply destructive ideas fomented by his nativist allies and divisive rhetoric. We will continue to stand up for these young immigrants and ensure they continue to contribute to our country. We cannot let America’s Dreamers be deported.”
Perhaps the ACLU should change their name to ICLU (Illegal Civil Liberties Union) since they’re so offended by the use of the word America. This is the type of abject absurdity emanating from the progressive socialist left. As I’ve stated, they are their own worse PR firm. It does appear that the ICLU didn’t hear the money line from President Trump, “Americans are dreamers too.” What’s very disconcerting is the liberal progressive left is attempting to redefine who has dreams in America. They’re defining this as those here illegally, in true dismissal of our own children and grandchildren. As always, the left is placing their politicized ideological agenda above what’s best for the American people.
For those of you who frequent these pages, you already knew this story, but last night, President Trump presented it to the American people. When President Trump introduced the parents of the two 16-year-old girls who’d been brutally murdered by MS-13 gang members allowed entry into America as illegal unaccompanied minors, that struck home. Those two girls had dreams and so did their parents. Those dreams were taken away from those who have benefited by the insidious and misguided policy agenda of the progressive socialist left. Just as with Kate Steinle.
Faiz Shakir just joined the ICLU last year January 2017 as their national political director. Before that he worked for the infamous Nevada Senator Harry Reid. Shakir also spent seven years at the far left Center for American Progress — funded by George Soros. There he was also editor-in-chief of ThinkProgress.org, a gathering of cheeky folks who prefer progressive socialism and Marxism as the governing system for our Constitutional Republic. It’s also apparent that Mr. Shakir and his ilk care little for American sovereignty and the security of our borders. As Rep. Kennedy stated Tuesday night in one of the five or six Democrat SOTU responses, “if they build a wall, our generation will tear it down.” Hmm, how very telling of the progressive socialist left.
Shakir referred in his statement to “an even larger mass deportation force” — perhaps this little leftist has no respect for the U.S. Border Patrol agent President Trump had sitting in the House chamber gallery, and introduced. Perhaps little boy Shakir cares little for the civil liberties and rights of former U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry who lost his life due to the criminal Operation Fast and Furious endeavor of the great progressive socialist Barack Obama and his henchman, Eric Holder. Ahh, they’re just members of some mass deportation force, not law enforcement officers seeking to keep us safe and secure.
Shakir stated that President Trump is keeping illegal immigrants hostage because he won’t surrender our sovereignty to the unconstitutional demands of the left. The proposed border security system improvements, which include a wall, are not harmful…they are necessary. But they’re only necessary if you believe America is a sovereign nation — perhaps Faiz Shakir, and his fellow progressive socialists do not. No one is holding illegals hostage in America; what’s happening is our law-abiding citizens are being held hostage by the liberal progressive unconstitutional agenda.
I want to remind Faiz of something. During the first two years of the Obama reign, the progressive socialist left had super majorities in the House and Senate. So, why didn’t the leftists do something about the immigration system in America? Why didn’t they do as they wished in granting amnesty to any and all illegal immigrants? Why? Because Faiz Shakir and these progressive socialists do not care about them, not at all. They only took an unconstitutional executive action as a political response to win electoral patronage with the Hispanic community. What Faiz and his comrades fail to understand is that there are many law-abiding, legal Hispanics who came to America the right way. And they are appalled and disgusted by the petty patronizing, demeaning pandering of the liberal progressive left.
I said it in my commentary yesterday, and I will state it again. The progressive socialist left’s hatred of President Donald Trump has been converted into hatred of America itself. How else should one interpret the delusional drivel of Faiz Shakir who seems offended by the use of the word, the ideal that has meant freedom and liberty for so many — America.
You must realize we can NEVER allow the progressive socialist left to be in power in America. Not in our local municipalities, not in our states, not in our elected legislatures, not in our courts…and never in our White House!
