If you have been on Twitter recently you have probably seen the trending hashtag #ReleaseTheMemo. Other than the shutdown, it’s the most important topic in Washington right now. The House voted to release a memo that potentially reveals some extremely nefarious KGB like activity going on within our government. There’s a possibility that it reveals FISA abuses that make Watergate look like child’s play.
From BizPac Review:
If a FISA document uncovered by House investigators proves to be as bad as all appearances, the prior administration will stand accused of abusing federal law enforcement and intelligence assets in order to sabotage Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
“The classified report compiled by House Intelligence is deeply troubling and raises serious questions about the upper echelon of the Obama DOJ and Comey FBI as it relates to the so-called collusion investigation,” said Rep. Ron DeSantis.
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) referred to the information contained in the memo as “worse than Watergate.”
“I have read the memo. The sickening reality has set in. I no longer hold out hope there is an innocent explanation for the information the public has seen. I have long said it is worse than Watergate,” he wrote.
From Fox News:
A four-page memo circulating in Congress that reveals alleged United States government surveillance abuses is being described by lawmakers as “shocking,” “troubling” and “alarming,” with one congressman likening the details to KGB activity in Russia.
Speaking with Fox News, the lawmakers said they could not yet discuss the contents of the memo they reviewed on Thursday after it was released to members by the House Intelligence Committee. But they say the memo should be immediately made public.
“It is so alarming the American people have to see this,” Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan said.
“It’s troubling. It is shocking,” North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows said. “Part of me wishes that I didn’t read it because I don’t want to believe that those kinds of things could be happening in this country that I call home and love so much.”
Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz said he believed people could lose their jobs after the memo is released.
It’s possible this memo isn’t as big of a bombshell as Republicans are saying. However, it doesn’t really make sense for them to go out on a limb like this if nothing is there.
Hopefully, the American people get some transparency here. We never got transparency under Obama. Under Trump, things have been different.
For example, look what he’s done at the VA.
From The Hill:
While Americans anxiously watch Congress debate the repeal of ObamaCare, President Trump and Congress are taking steps that will benefit millions of veterans who receive health care through the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). An extension of the 2014 Choice Program and the introduction of new accountability measures are two steps that are paving the way for even greater reforms to come.
The ultimate goal of reforming the VHA should be to ensure that every American veteran gets the highest quality care available from the provider of his or her choice when he or she needs it. Furthermore, the VHA should be held to the highest standard of transparency and accountability.
That’s the tip of the iceberg.
