Things are heating up when it comes to DACA and we are really learning a lot of Democrats as part of this process. Trump has already said he’s willing to legalize the DACA recipients that Obama circumvented Congress to keep here. That’s a move that has angered his base but it also speaks to Trump’s willingness to work across the aisle.
However, over the past week or so, it’s been very clear that Democrats don’t really care about what happens with this deal. Sure, they want the votes and they would like to see DACA recipients stay here but they aren’t acting in a serious way during these negotiations. They aren’t willing to make any meaningful concessions and all they seem to care about is labeling Trump as a racist.
They spent a lot more time talking about Trump’s alleged ‘s***hole’ comment than they did talking about concessions they would make. Have you seen any Democrats having conversations about the merits of some of the things Trump is asking for? No. It’s all political theatre.
Regardless of what happens with DACA, liberals are prepared to blame Trump and make him the bad guy. They have no desire to actually work with Trump and they certainly don’t want to give Trump credit for anything.
Trump understands this and he took to Twitter on Sunday morning to let everyone know he understands it.
From Washington Examiner:
President Trump said Sunday a program allowing people who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children is “probably dead” because Democrats “don’t really want it.”
“[Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] is probably dead because the Democrats don’t really want it, they just want to talk and take desperately needed money away from our Military,” Trump tweeted.
Trump also felt the need to point out the obvious.
He’s not racist.
From Fox News:
Trump also denied that he was a racist in the wake of a vulgar comment that lawmakers said he made last week about Haiti and African countries.
“I’m not a racist,” the president said in response to a reporter’s question. “I am the least racist person you have ever interviewed. That I can tell you.”
Anyone who looks at Trump’s career as a whole will quickly realize this guy isn’t a racist. If he’s racist then he’s the worst racist ever because he was constantly hanging around with Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson before he became a political figure and you could fill the Rose Bowl with black Americans who have vouched for him.
Democrats really need to come up with a better attack. They have tried the racist thing for years and years and years and it hasn’t gotten them anywhere. They failed miserably to derail Trump in 2016 when they called him a racist and they’ve failed so far since then. It’s almost like they don’t want to win back power. It seems like they just want to play games and pretend they have the moral authority.
It’s really a bad look.
