Liberals have many different tactics and smears that they use to marginalize the right. Without question, their favorite attack against conservatives is to call them racist. It’s lazy. It’s childish. It’s incorrect. However, it is strangely effective. Part of the reason is that it’s a bell you can’t unring. Once you are accused of being racist, there is no real way to undo that. It’s impossible to prove you aren’t racist. It’s an attack that sticks regardless of reality.
When it comes to Trump, liberals have gone all out with the racism charges. It’s especially effective in his case because he is strong on immigration. It’s easy for liberals to link enforcing our immigration laws with racism because in most people’s minds the majority of people coming here aren’t white.
Most people are aware by now that Trump allegedly referred to a handful of third world countries as “s***holes”. Democrats immediately jumped on Trump as racist despite the reality that it’s an indisputable fact those countries are some of the most dangerous and most impoverished on the planet.
From The Daily Caller:
GOP Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky told NBC’s Chuck Todd Sunday that congressional Democrats are making an immigration reform deal impossible by calling President Donald Trump a racist.
The senator told Todd the uproar attending reports that Trump characterized much of the third world as a “shithole,” during a private meeting with lawmakers is destroying whatever good will might exist to achieve immigration reform.
“You can’t have an immigration compromise if everyone is out there calling the president a racist,” he said. “They’re actually destroying the setting… in which anything meaningful can happen on immigration.”
Here’s the clip.
Here’s more of what Rand said.
From NBC News:
Sen. Rand Paul said Sunday that it is “unfair” to call President Donald Trump a racist but said his recently reported controversial comments about immigrants from Haiti and African countries are unhelpful.
“I don’t think the comments were constructive at all, but I also think that, to be fair, we shouldn’t draw conclusions that he didn’t intend,” the Kentucky Republican said on “Meet The Press.”
Democrats are going to have a hard time getting this DACA thing done if they are so hung up on accusing the president of being a racist.
It’s also important to remember that we don’t know if this even happened. There are very trustworthy sources saying he didn’t make the comment the way it has been conveyed by Democrats.
From Washington Examiner:
Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., repeatedly said Sunday morning that reports President Trump referred to Haiti and various African countries as “shithole countries” during a meeting with senators this week on immigration was a “gross misrepresentation.”
Perdue use the phrase “gross misrepresentation” several times during an interview with ABC’s “This Week.”
You always have to be careful when the media starts running with stories like this. Usually, they are either false or very misleading.
Was Trump racist when he was hanging out with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton years ago?
Was Trump racist when he was a TV personality?
We didn’t hear accusations of racism then.
But, now that he’s an open conservative he’s some racist monster.
Give me a break.
