All the media wants to talk about over the last day or so is the fact that Trump referred to some of the world’s most dangerous and impoverished countries as s***holes. They know that the term, albeit crude, is correct. If you were to define what constitutes a s***hole there is no doubt Haiti and El Salvador would check off those boxes. That’s not a nice thing to say but sometimes the facts on the ground aren’t always nice. The liberal left knows Trump didn’t say anything that bad. They know they’d rather live in Norway than Haiti. But, this is an opportunity to push their narrative that Trump is racist and that’s all they care about.
The reality here is that what Trump said wasn’t about race. He was simply asking a question about the current immigration system and wondering if it’s wise to import unskilled workers from countries like Haiti and not treat countries like Norway the same way. It’s a perfectly reasonable question that Tucker Carlson touched on in his show Thursday night.
The left doesn’t want to talk about the questions Tucker brought up.
They want to call Trump a racist and will silence anyone who disagrees.
Here’s an exchange that just happened on CNN when conservative radio host John Fredericks disagreed with Don Lemon that Trump’s comments were racist.
From The Daily Caller:
“Well Don, it’s not about race, as you like to make it. Because that’s easy and lazy,” Fredericks said. “It’s about economics.” Anti-Trump conservative Rick Wilson, who was also on the panel began laughing in disbelief.
Lemon allowed Fredericks to continue talking, until Fredericks said, “You called on me, so let me finish.” This was apparently too much for the CNN host to handle and he kicked Fredericks off the segment.
“You know what John Fredericks, John, until that last comment — Yeah I’m going to cut you off. Can we please cut him off? Can we take him off the screen? Can we get rid of John Fredericks? Thank you” Lemon said.
What a guy that Don Lemon is.
Here’s the clip.
Gotta love the tolerant liberal left.
I wrote about this situation fairly extensively on Thursday and Ben Shapiro (not a Trump guy) had some good points as well.
From Daily Wire:
First, the illegitimate: people angry that Trump called some countries “s***holes,” because they object to the idea that countries are different. That’s idiotic. It is absolutely inarguable that some countries are awful. North Korea is a horror show. Sudan is a dumpster fire. Haiti is, by statistics, a terrible place to live, which is why so many people want to immigrate to the United States. The argument that Trump is wrong to call some countries s***holes comes down to nicety, not truth – which is why Rich Lowry of National Review took Joan Walsh of CNN to the woodshed over whether she’d rather live in Haiti or Norway.
Let’s say that liberals are right and Trump is racist. He hates minorities with every fiber of his being. Do you think he’s going to be dumb enough to sound off like that openly and expose himself as a racist in a room full of his political enemies? He’d have to be a complete idiot to do that and he’s clearly far from an idiot.
It really doesn’t add up to racism no matter how you slice it.
