How anyone actually believes anything that Al Gore says is a mystery. But he’s at it again, making a pronouncement about the present round of arctic cold. And in typical Gore fashion, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. But hey, he’s always good for a laugh.
Gore is doing his best to try to explain the bitter cold after years of pitching global warming.
As much of the country battles bitter cold weather and temperatures in the negative range, Al Gore used Twitter to spread his twisted brand of circular reasoning.
“It’s bitter cold in parts of the US, but climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann explains that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis,” the politician-turned-guru declared.
In other words: Freezing cold is just part of the planet overheating. Now, stop asking questions!
“Climate crisis,” of course, is a term that’s being used as a substitute for “global warming,” which fell out of favor as a talking point with people more worried about freezing to death. Make no mistake, global warming is still what Gore is peddling, no matter the label.
Gore has a special gift for being wrong. If you will, it’s an ‘inconvenient truth’ about him.
He famously predicted in 2008 that the polar ice caps were going to melt within 5 years.
Not so much.
“Updated data from NASA satellite instruments reveal the Earth’s polar ice caps have not receded at all since the satellite instruments began measuring the ice caps in 1979,” Forbes Magazine reported in 2015.
“Ice growth during November 2017 averaged 30,900 square miles per day,” the National Snow and Ice Data Center stated earlier this month.
But being wrong hasn’t stopped Gore or the other global warmists.
When it turned out it wasn’t warming, global warming folks called it a “pause.”
They then claimed that the warming that didn’t exist was leading to more extreme weather like hurricanes. The U.S. immediately went through a period with no major hurricane as though God were trying to mock the warmists.
And when global warming didn’t bear out, they shifted toward using climate change to explain away anything that made no sense.
So when President Donald Trump recently posted a tweet mocking them with a joke about global warming noting the near-record low temperatures on New Year’s Day, they chastised him, saying climate was not weather.
But then of course, here’s Gore turning around in the next moment saying that this bitter cold proves the existential threat of climate change.
Make up your mind, Al! Which is it?
The Daily Wire notes some of the folks mocking Gore’s pronouncement.
Of course, Al is not just wrong, he’s also a hypocrite.
“Al Gore’s Nashville estate expends 21 times more energy a year than typical U.S. home … ” The Washington Times reported (the former vice president lives in a 10,000-square-foot house in Nashville). He flies all over the world, burning thousands of gallons of fossil fuel in his private jet — to lecture people about their carbon footprints.
And he’s wrong all the time. As we said, perfect.
