[VIDEO] Another official comes forward about Trump’s response to crisis in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria
<> on September 25, 2017 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

In the wake of the devastation Hurricane Maria brought to Puerto Rico, a twisted political narrative began to form. Not only was Trump’s response to the crisis inadequate, but ignoring the needs of the island was yet more proof of racism. To help push this narrative, liberals enlisted the help of San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz. Making the rounds on cable news, Cruz blasted away at Trump for his response to the crisis.

Of course, there was always a small problem with this narrative: it was completely false.

While Cruz was finding sympathetic pundits to talk to, pallets of aid were arriving in Puerto Rico. Instead of doing the work required to distribute that aid, Cruz was busy making political t-shirts. While becoming a darling of the American left, Cruz was blasted by a neighboring mayor for her personal conduct.

In truth, Trump’s response to the crisis was above and beyond what is usually expected. Nevertheless, liberals continue to push the narrative that it’s been inadequate. However, Puerto Rico’s delegate to Congress Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon may have finally put that lie to rest once and for all.

From the Daily Wire:

Speaking to USA Today, Puerto Rico’s delegate to the United States Congress, Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon, challenged claims that President Donald Trump has forgotten the island, and bungled emergency response in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

“I will tell you that everything that the president said that he was going to send to the island, it’s getting there. The resources are there. The help is there,” Colon told the outlet. He instructed all his cabinet members to treat Puerto Rico as a state, in terms of this hurricane. I mean, that kind of instruction is important to have access to all those programs.”

Gonzalez-Colon also said she was impressed with Trump’s knowledge of the situation on the ground in Puerto Rico, and mentioned that the President spoke to Puerto Rico’s governor at least once every day, during and after the hurricane.

To be sure, Colon had ample reason to praise Trump’s response. Although Trump was quick to provide aid in traditional ways, he took even more extreme steps to ensure Puerto Rico was getting the supplies it desperately needed. With a massive amount of supplies needing to reach the island, Trump loosened decades old shipping rules, allowing even more supplies and equipment to arrive in Puerto Rico.

Despite this, liberals attempted to use the suffering of real people to gain political points. Thankfully, they were proven wrong by the reality on the ground.
