Trump responds to Hillary’s attacks with EPIC press conference — and a tweet

Donald Trump was in rare form this afternoon at an unexpected, free-ranging afternoon press conference in which he was asked whether he thought Hillary Clinton should run for president again.  In recent days, Clinton has unleashed a barrage of attacks on Trump while supporting NFL protesters over the president.

Trump took the opportunity to blast the former Secretary of State for supporting NFL players who take the knee during the singing of the national anthem — and then gleefully goaded her into running again.

“Oh, I hope Hillary runs,” said the president, cheerfully. “Is she going to run? I hope. Hillary, please run again! Go ahead.”

Then he took her on over the NFL protests:

Well, that’s why she lost the election. I mean, honestly — it’s that thinking. That’s the reason she lost the election. When you go down and take a knee, or any other way, you’re sitting essentially for our great national anthem. You’re disrespecting our flag, and you’re disrespecting our country.

And the NFL should have suspended some of these players for one game. Not fire them. Suspended them for one game. And then if they did it again it, could have been two games, then three games, then for the season.

You wouldn’t have people disrespecting our country right now. And if Hillary Clinton actually made a statement that … sitting down during the playing of our great national anthem is not disrespectful, then I fully understand why she didn’t win … I mean, there are lot of reasons why she didn’t win, including the fact that she was not good at what she did.

But I will tell you that’s something that I had just heard about, and I think that her statement in itself is very disrespectful to our country.”

Trump has long opposed the national anthem protests — even telling NFL owners they should “fire” any “son of a b—-” who kneels. On Monday, he called for their suspension.

For her part, when she’s not supporting kneeling players, Hillary occupies her time blaming everyone under the sun for her loss — giving so many blame-assigning interviews that they’re now becoming the stuff of Internet comedy legend.

Of course, no one’s more blameworthy in her eyes than former FBI head James Comey — in fact, she even titled the first chapter of her book, What Happened, “Those Darn Emails” — a not-so-subtle reference to Comey’s investigation into her use of private, unsecured email to conduct official government business.

Fox News reports:

President Trump and Hillary Clinton are still going at it, and if Trump has his way, they’ll square off again in 2020.

President Trump tweeted Monday that he hopes “Crooked” Hillary Clinton runs for president again, even as the former secretary of state was telling an Australian media outlet that former FBI Director James Comey gave her the “shiv.”

“I was recently asked if Crooked Hillary Clinton is going to run in 2020? My answer was, “I hope so!” Trump tweeted.

A Clinton spokesman did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment in response to the president’s tweet.

If Clinton did, in fact, decide to run again in 2020, it would be her third attempt at the White House.

In her latest interview, Clinton borrowed a prison phrase to accuse Comey of costing her the election by re-opening the investigation into her private email server.

“He did shiv me, yeah … we also know that opponents of mine, like former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, knew something was coming,” Clinton told Australia’s NewsCo.com. “So there was clearly an effort to detail my campaign at the end.”

Maybe Trump has a point: If Clinton’s saying that Comey’s the reason she lost, then fine, now that there’s no Comey around, Hillary has no excuses. Maybe they should run again, mano-a-mano, to see what happens.

If such a rematch were to take place, Hillary may have to face the reality that Comey didn’t cause her demise — and it wasn’t the Russians or Anthony Weiner, either.

There’s only one group responsible for her loss — the American people
