The war waged by the progressive, socialist left to counter President Trump’s message of nationalism and “America First” is a byproduct of Barack Obama’s mission to fundamentally transform the fabric of our great nation.
As the fabric of our country becomes more and more tattered by the hypocrisy and political correctness of the left, small skirmishes are being waged in our communities coast to coast to capture the hearts and minds of our most impressionable.
Our educational institutions, for years now, have been assaulted by the left to further a narrative that our country’s history and leadership is tainted by oppression, evil and theft. The latest chapter in this narrative was recently on display in a Wyoming classroom where “shooting at Trump” was actually offered to students as a possible answer to a quiz.
One of the answers a Jackson Hole High School English teacher gave her students on a multiple choice quiz Thursday was “A) He was shooting at Trump.”
Teton County School District No. 1 confirmed the answer was on a quiz administered online by their secure learning management system. The quiz has since been taken down.
Jim McCollum was surprised when his son Rylee McCollum, a junior, came home and showed him a screenshot of the online test.
“I had to read it two times,” McCollum said. “I was like, ‘Are you kidding me?'”
McCollum, a self-described conservative who voted for President Donald Trump, said that while he “cringes at some of the things he says,” the question was completely out of line.
“It’s about respect for the office more than anything,” he said. “That’s enough of this. No way.”
The test, McCollum said, was on George Orwell’s novel “Animal Farm.” The full question was, “Napoleon has the gun fired for a new occasion. What is the new occasion?”
Possible answers were, “He was shooting at Trump,” “his birthday,” “for completion of the windmill” and “to scare off the attackers of Animal Farm.”
This unfortunate event begs an important question. Where is the oversight from the school’s administration and school board before exams are administered? Could this be blind ignorance or a calculated move to inject liberal bias in the classroom? The Teton County School District issued a boilerplate response typical in these types of incidents. Hopefully they mean what they say:
“TCSD #1 administration learned late yesterday that a quiz was administered to a class of high school students that contained an inappropriate answer to a multiple choice question. Administration is investigating this incident and verifying the information we have received.
“TCSD #1 takes seriously threats of any kind, regardless of the intent. We apologize to the students, families and community for this incident and will be addressing the issue with personnel.”
The timing of this event is troubling and completely out of bounds based on recent events in Las Vegas. Are liberals entirely incapable of showing decency and respect for authority? As the days, months and years go on, that answer is a resounding “YES.” Conservatives need a counterweight in the classroom to prevent incidences like these from occurring again. Unfortunately, we’re already behind the eight ball.
