Chelsea Manning is SHOCKED to discover he’s subject to travel ban

Former treason convict Chelsea Manning discovered today that he’s prohibited from entering Canada as a result of those charges.

He does plan on appealing the ruling.

The link Manning posted deals with the Canadian government’s definition of treason, which of course is presented in terms of treason against the Canadian government. Manning apparently thinks he’s found a loophole in that it was the United States government he committed treason against. There was no shortage of mockery about Manning’s surprise, but one tweet in particular captures the true absurdity of the situation:

While Manning is politicizing the incident to play the victim, there are plenty of other charges that prohibit entrance into Canada. A DUI on your record, for example, will make it nearly impossible for you to legally enter Canada.

Given that the charge of treason is much more serious than a DUI, it’s logical that Manning would be prohibited from entering Canada due to his past offense.
