Apology owed: Trump’s London terror tweet turns out to be SPOT-ON…

Once again Trump has proven to be smarter than his critics.

On Friday, September 15th, London suffered an attack that left numerous people injured.

And, as we’ve seen too often this year (Charlottesville, North Korea), the media made the story more about Trump’s comment about an event than about the event itself.

Trump tweeted:

In accordance to their modus operandi, the MSM huffed and puffed over Trump’s contention that the terrorists were “in the sights of Scotland Yard” and command that we “Must be proactive,” as evidenced by this series of tweets from CNN International:

Other British officials were similary dismissive of Trump’s claim:

However, the news reports today that the terrorists involved in this bombing were indeed known to Scotland Yard.

According to the Daily Mail, the police arrested the first suspect in the bombing attack two weeks ago.

In other words,

Amazingly, even after being confirmed as accurate, the Trump administration had to again defend Trump’s tweet as CNN.

Responding to host Dana Bash’s question, “Do you wish that the president was more careful in suggesting information about the investigation that is ongoing?”, U.N. Secretary Nikki Haley argued:

Well, look. The president would not want to do any harm to the investigation. Let’s be clear. So if he goes out and he gets emotional and passionate about the fact that he’s upset about what happened in the UK, I mean, of course. That’s what he put out there. But there was no ill intent with that. I think it was just the fact that he was very concerned and very disturbed that these terrorist attacks keep happening in Great Britain.

This exchange can be seen here:

Interesting how Trump’s tweet can be both “speculation” and a leak of classified information about an ongoing investigation. That’s hard to do.

Nonetheless, Trump has little reason to expect an apology from any of his critics. Instead he will have to console himself with the realization that he was right all along.

That’s something Trump has a good bit of experience doing.
