The ongoing chilling reports on Antifa took another worrisome turn recently when it was discovered that many of the members of the leftist terrorist group are in fact public school teachers. This new information came to light when it was revealed that the group BAMN, or “BAMN – Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration, and Immigrant Rights and Fight for Equality By Any Means Necessary”, has among its members violent demonstrators like Yvette Felarca.
According to the Daily Caller:
One of BAMN’s most prominent organizers is Yvette Felarca, a Berkeley middle school teacher and pro-violence militant. Felarca currently faces charges of inciting a riot for her role in the Sacramento violence.
The Daily Caller adds:
The FBI and DHS say Antifa groups like BAMN are engaging in “domestic terrorist violence,” according to the Politico report.
Just last weekend, Felarca helped organize BAMN’s mass demonstrations that “shut down” an anti-Marxism rally in Berkeley. As with BAMN’s other organized actions, left-wing actors at Saturday demonstrations violently attacked peaceful protesters. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi condemned the Antifa violence in Berkeley, while Felarca called BAMN’s actions a “resounding success.”
Parents who hope their young teens and pre-teens who may have Ms. Felarca as their teacher are not affected by her violent political proclivities will be sadly disappointed. For example, as told by Berkeley.com:
In 2011, she asked for permission to take her after-school club on an all-day field trip to UC Berkeley for activities related to Proposition 209. The school principal “ultimately denied permission,” according to the letter, because “it was an opportunity for you to indoctrinate students and use them to support your own personal political agenda, it took them away from necessary instruction, and violated the directives you had been given in 2009.”The letter from the school district to Ms. Felarca adds “it was evident that you and your [By Any Means Necessary] representatives were actively trying to brainwash and manipulate these young people to serve your own selfish interests in not being held accountable to the same rules that apply to everyone else. As a teacher, your conduct was particularly reprehensible.”
Yet the school district has been unable to fire Ms. Felarca. Even suggestions that she be disciplined are met with supporters who claim that she is an “excellent teacher.”
The site Ammoland.com provides useful information to clarify our understanding of BAMN:
BAMN, which is the de facto parent group of Antifa, gets most of their money from the United for Equality and Affirmative Action Legal Defense Fund (UEAALDF), a 501(c)(3). The UEAALDF is the fundraising arm of BAMN which controls Antifa.
The UEAALDF has a lot of powerful supporters. Not surprisingly you will find unions like SEIU, UEW, and the ALFCIO. On the list, you will also find the usual suspects like George Soros, and the SPLC [Southern Poverty Law Center].
The Daily Caller further explains that BAMN is quite influential in our public school system:
BAMN is active within both the National Education Association — the nation’s largest teacher’s union — as well as with local and regional teacher’s unions in Michigan and California.
Last year, 17 different BAMN members ran for elected positions on the Detroit Federation of Teachers, according to a newsletter sent out by the DFT. BAMN also ran five candidates for different national leadership positions with the NEA in 2017.
It is indeed frightening to learn that our public schools have been infiltrated by a terrorist organization bent on silencing – by any means necessary – any voice that opposes their agenda.
Unfortunately, given the laws that protect public school teachers from being fired, ridding our schools from these terrorists will be a formidable challenge.
