In a move that’s likely to send shockwaves all across the conservative movement, Sen. Lindsey Graham spoke out on Trump’s speech about Afghanistan, and actually gave his support for it.
Yes, that’s right. Graham said something positive about President Trump. Strange things, indeed, are afoot.
Not only did Graham seem to support the president’s course of action regarding Afghanistan, but he also issued a warning for all members of Congress who might be tempted to oppose Trump’s plan.
The Blaze is reporting:
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) made a dire prediction about another 9/11 if Congress didn’t get behind the plan for Afghanistan that President Donald Trump revealed Monday evening in an address to the nation.
“We got to appropriate the money, I’m on the appropriations committee,” Graham said after the speech on Fox News. “I’m on the Armed Services Committee, I will fight Sen. [Rand] Paul [R-Ky.] tooth and nail to make sure we don’t lose in Afghanistan like we did in Iraq.”
“It’s just exactly what President [Barack] Obama did in Iraq, was to leave against sound military advice,” he said. “President Trump has the smarts and the moral courage to listen to his generals and take their advice rather than going the political way.”
“The next 9/11 will be your fault, not President Trump’s fault, if you shoot down this plan because this is a solid plan. This will turn things around in Afghanistan,” he said. “It’s putting Pakistan on notice.”
“And to President Trump,” he said addressing the cameras, “you’ve shown the will to stand up to radical Islam, but my friend, they’re gonna come after us, they’re gonna try to break your will, don’t let them, stick with it.”
Wow. Just wow.
This is a prime example of what can happen when two individuals who have different views, find some common ground and join forces together. Harmony is possible in part, if not in totality.
Both Trump and Graham are on the right track when it comes to properly dealing with radical Islamic terrorists…a truth the last administration either refused to learn or just simply ignored for the sake of political expediency.
Obama’s refusal to destroy terror groups led to ISIS gaining a foothold in the Middle East, which in turn led to the various attacks that have happened here and abroad.
It’s time for strong leadership and a new approach, which is precisely what Trump is suggesting. Let’s hope the terrorists are quaking in their boots. If they aren’t yet, they will be.
