Al Sharpton just inadvertently proved Trump was right all along

By now you know, the blow-up in Virginia had its genesis in the city of Charlorttesville’s plan to remove a statue of General Robert E. Lee and renaming a public park.  A group of alt-right hate groups decided to protest the decision, a group of alt-left hate groups came to protest the protest.

In the follow-up statements to his follow-up statements in which he condemned ALL the hatred and violence, President Trump posed a prophetic question when he asked, if our Founding Fathers like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are going to be the next statues to come down.  Naturally the left and the media pounced on the statement with claims that Trump is comparing George Washington to Robert E. Lee!  Business Insider even went so far as to say Trump “equated” Washington and Jefferson to the confederate generals and “President Donald Trump on Tuesday defended white nationalists who converged in Charlottesville,…”

(Predictable) Press coverage aside, the real question should be “was Trump right?” It didn’t take long for us to find out.  And who provided the proof of Trump’s prophetic skills? None other than “Reverend” Al Sharpton himself.

Since his poorly-rated show on MSNBC was mercifully cancelled in 2015, Sharpton (thank heavens) has largely been off the radar.  But since he must run to the nearest camera and microphone whenever an issue relating to race comes on the national radar, Sharpton showed up on the Charlie Rose Show last week and inadvertently provided verification that Trump was right.

Asked by Rose about public monuments to anybody associated with slavery and specifically our Founding Fathers, Al dropped the bomb.  See for yourself:

“When you look at the fact that public monuments are supported by public funds, you are asking me to subsidize the insult of my family. …The public should not be paying to uphold somebody who has had that kind of background.  You have private museums, you have other kind of things who may want to do that.”

So there it is.  Will Democrats begin targeting the Jefferson and Washington monuments? In an interesting twist; if this is all about slavery and who did what to slaves, then logically Al and the gang must take up the fight to preserve monuments to Abe Lincoln, right? Lincoln is the founder of the Republican Party!  Man are they digging themselves into a dizzying hole.

All of this is the horses’ mouths confirming what conservatives have been saying for years – that the Als and Baracks and Michelles of this world really do loathe this country. They believe it was unjustly and immorally founded and needs “fundamental transformation.” Just listen to how any times Al goes past tense in this statement. “Were”, “did” and “used to” are big with this crowd.

If Charlottesville has done anything it’s revealed just how prophetic two men are, Donald Trump and George Orwell:

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
–George Orwell, 1984.

Once the statues are down, parks and memorials renamed, what’s next? The renaming of our nation’s capital to Sharpton D.C.?
