As even a so-called “skinny repeal” of Obamacare couldn’t pass the Senate, it seems Republicans have a more liberal view of healthcare than we were led to believe. While Congressional Republicans in both houses had no problem voting for countless Obamacare repeal bills when these were sure to be vetoed by former President Barack Obama, their tune has changed dramatically now that Donald Trump’s in the White House.
While Congressional Democrats firmly defend Obamacare, most would truly desire an even larger government power grab over the healthcare industry in the form of fully socialized medicine – so-called “single payer” healthcare.
Earlier this month, after speaking out against the Obamacare repeal attempts at a rally, Sen. Bernie Sanders championed the single-payer option, saying, ““If you’re serious about real health-care reform, it has got to be on the agenda, and I would hope that as many Democrats as possible support it.” Sen. Elizabeth Warren has called single payer “the next step” (we fear what she thinks the step after that should be!), and Sen. Kristen Gillibrand has publicly called for “Medicare for all.”
They should be made aware that we already have socialized medicine for our veterans – who immediately fight a battle with government-run healthcare in the form of the Veterans Administration when they return from fighting overseas.
The Veterans Administration’s crimes have been well-documented.
According to a report published by the VA’s inspector general last year, more than 307,000 veterans died before their applications for healthcare had been processed. One applicant had waited 14 years to get healthcare.
That’s not even the worst of it. In an informative video for Prager University, Fox News contributor and former “Concerned Veterans of America” CEO Pete Hegseth lays out the problems with the VA, and how it goes to prove that government-run healthcare isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
