Picture of Trump with Putin vs. Obama with Putin speaks VOLUMES

Yesterday was the first face-to-face, mano a mano meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.

If you ask Donald Trump, it was a “tremendous meeting.”

Per the LA Times, Trump and Putin agreed on a limited cease-fire in southwest Syria and discussed how to bridge their differences on Ukraine, ending North Korea’s nuclear program and cyber security threats.

The meeting went longer than was planned – over two hours – and apparently at one point, Melania Trump had to come into the room to urge the leaders to wrap it up.

Sounds good, right? Wrong.

According to those on the left it was WAY too positive.

Via Reuters, Andrew Weiss, a former National Security Council official responsible for Russia, said Trump had sent the wrong signal with upbeat body language and by not pushing Putin harder on alleged Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election.

“The atmospherics were chummy,” said Weiss, who is now at Washington’s Carnegie Endowment for International Peace think tank in Washington. “The clear push from Trump to normalize U.S.-Russian relations was on display in the meeting.”

Don’t want to have that, do we? Well, perhaps everyone would prefer Barack Obama’s “flexibility.” Check out this comparison of how it looked when Donald met Vlad, and when Barry met Vlad.

CNN (of course) couldn’t WAIT to point out that Russia set a trap for Trump, and he fell right in.

What was the ominous trap Russia set?

Writing for CNN, Jen Psaki said, The Russians telegraphed in advance of the meeting that their agenda was to 1) publicly mend the relationship, 2) gain a better understanding of US policy, and 3) discuss joint concerns over terrorism. They scored on all three.

Um…that’s a trap? Sure sounds like exactly what we’d want to discuss.

Liberals were of course incensed that their Russia collusion and meddling narrative got short shrift. Putin said Russia didn’t; Trump accepted his statement and the two presidents agreed to move on to more pressing matters.

Will liberals put that one to bed? Short answer: no.
