Greetings everyone from Wheeling, West “By God” Virginia where I am helping settle our oldest daughter Aubrey into her new home. I just want to send out a special Semper Fi to a former US Marine, Frederick Sweeney, who was the general contractor who redesigned and renovated Aubrey’s home. Man, it is nice. We had only one SNAFU in the whole moving episode in that the Atlas Van Lines failed to deliver her furnishings, so we drove to the transition location and did what we called in the military a DITY (do it yourself) completion of her move.
I just gotta tell ya, this is one heck of a beautiful area — the mountains, the Ohio River, and the cool breeze against the green picturesque sky. And Wheeling is just one of those locations that has so very much potential to become a charming getaway. There are so many incredible stately homes here located over on Wheeling Island just awaiting a renaissance and new investment. Sadly, Wheeling and West Virginia as a whole found itself in the cross hairs of Barack Obama and the progressive socialist left. Ask yourself, what manner of person, not to mention an American president, or candidate for said office, would openly admit a desire to “bankrupt” an entire industry? And in doing so, admit that they wanted to destroy the lives of everyday, blue collar, middle income level Americans?
It’s something that cannot be hidden — the dire economic consequences facing this wild and wonderful state. Here are people who are multiple generation coal miners and they NEVER wanted government to undermine their livelihood and then force them into the welfare state, the dependency society. However, when you realize the liberal progressive left is comprised of political, cultural/social, academic, entertainment, and media elites who look down their noses in utter condescension towards the common men and women here, it’s just despicable. Obama evidenced his disdain for those people who cling to their guns and religion, but Hillary Clinton was straightforward and blunt referring to these good Americans as “deplorables.”
But they simply don’t get it. As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, “Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) acknowledged Sunday that Democrats questioning the party’s messaging problems have a point in the wake of another House election defeat.
He said on ABC’s “This Week” that the main lesson from Democrat Jon Ossoff’s four-point loss in Georgia’s special House election race was that the party needed a “strong, bold, sharp-edged and common-sense economic agenda.”
Democrats poured more than $30 million into the race to flip the seat from red to blue but came up short. Some Democrats frustrated with the party’s mounting losses lashed out, with Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) declaring the party’s brand was “worse than Trump.” Ryan and some of his colleagues called this week for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) to step aside from her leadership position, citing her national unpopularity that hurts local Democrats.
“They always blame the leader,” Schumer said. “I think if we come up with this strong, bold economic package, it will change things around. That’s what we were missing. People don’t like [President Donald] Trump. He’s at 40 percent [approval]. But they say, what the heck do the Democrats stand for? Ryan has a point here. We’d better stand for something, and it can’t be baby steps.”
The people here in West Virginia are well aware of what the Democrats and progressive socialists stand for: their denigration and their demise. When the person the Democrats chose as their candidate in 2016 blatantly said she’d put the coal industry out of business…and then tried to lie and say she never said it, you don’t just have a messaging problem. You have an integrity problem. You have a problem with connecting with anyone outside of your elite base. The state of Ohio lies just across the Ohio River from Wheeling, West Virginia. And when Ohio Democrat Congressman Tim Ryan ran for House Minority leadership, he was defeated as the House Democrats once again chose Nancy Pelosi. Remember, Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results.
Chuck Schumer said his party needs a strong, bold economic package? Really? Hillary Clinton told an out-of-work coal miner that the government would take care of him. Yep, that’s what the Democrats call a bold economic package — more expansion of the welfare state and the dependency society in order to subjugate hardworking Americans who want the freedom and liberty to take care of themselves and their families. The restoration of Wheeling, and the state of West Virginia will NEVER come under the coercive and destructive policies of the liberal progressive left. The reason being is that they look at these good people with a level of repulsion that’s borderline psychotic.
Why am I writing about this specific topic? Because my daughter has fallen in love with this little piece of what John Denver called “almost heaven.” It’s here that Aubrey has her first home, and will begin her career as a Physician’s Assistant, caring for the people in this region. And she’s already expressed concern about the increase of drug addiction — another example of how much “Obamacared.” These hardworking Americans which he sought to deride and decimate are finding themselves frustrated, but I pray they’ll cling to God, not the artificial salvation of drugs.
No Chuckie Schumer, your party has no message for the people here, and mostly outside of New York, California, and Chicago…along with most urban centers. And what’s amazing is the “locust effect” of what the progressive socialist left claims as their platform and policies. Wherever they go, they destroy, and of course anyone trying to rectify their mess is castigated in negative terms, such as “the death party.”
Senator Schumer, your paid leftists goons such as “Antifa” — funny, once the Democrat Party created the Ku Klux Klan to coerce, intimidate and enact violence. Some things never change and have nothing in common with patriotic, God-loving Americans. So just know, when, like a phoenix, Wheeling, West Virginia, and many other outside the liberal progressive bubble communities, experience an economic renaissance and renovation, it will not be due to you, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Kathy Griffin, Madonna, Barack Obama, or any of y’all.
It will be because in total spite, these great Americans will rise up just as we did 241 years ago when we broke the yoke of tyranny and declared ourselves independent!
