There’s been a lot of speculation over the years whether or not mega television personality Oprah Winfrey would ever make a go of politics and run for office.
Well, it looks like all the speculation can finally be laid to rest, as Winfrey herself has revealed whether or not she has any true political aspirations for the future.
According to the Daily Caller, Despite ongoing speculation that she is considering getting into politics, Oprah Winfrey says she “will never run for public office.”
Did you catch that? N.E.V.E.R.
The talk show host and actress shut down any further speculation in an interview on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast released Monday. The hour-long interview focused mostly on Oprah’s leading role in the HBO movie “The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks,” but she also spoke briefly about politics.
When asked if she believed she could defeat Donald Trump in 2020, Winfrey gave a response that might surprise some of her fans.
“I don’t know. I don’t know the answer to that,” she responded. “But I’ll never have to know the answer to that, because I will never run for public office,” she added. “That’s a pretty definitive thing.”
Is it wrong to be incredibly relieved by such an announcement?
Just imagine if an unhinged leftist celebrity tried to pull a Trump — and succeeded — landing in office as a senator — like Al Franken, for example. Oops. Too late.
Guess we really dodged a bullet here.
