House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has become somewhat notorious for saying all manner of nuttiness when giving her spiels in front of a TV camera, but it really seems like she’s losing it lately.
For whatever reason, the California Democrat has a really hard time telling the difference between former President George W. Bush and current commander in chief Donald Trump, repeatedly mixing them up in press conferences, despite Bush not having been president for almost a decade.
According to The Washington Free Beacon, During a press briefing on Friday morning, she again referred to “President Bush” when she was discussing Trump. Pelosi may have had Bush on the brain because she said earlier on “Morning Joe” that she wished the 43rd president was in the White House now.
“First, he tries to charm you,” Pelosi said of Trump. “President Bush tries to charm you. If that doesn’t work, he tries to bully you. If that doesn’t work, he walks away.”
One reporter interrupted to say “Trump” to correct her, but Pelosi ignored him.
A few minutes later, someone walked to the podium and handed her a note, apparently letting her know of the mistake.
“I said President Bush? I’m sorry, I meant to say—it’s hard for me to say it,” Pelosi said, evidently suggesting she did not want to say “President Trump.” “Poor President Bush. I apologize.”
Pelosi did the same thing back in February, right after Trump took office, and yet again on April 30, going so far as to note she actually wished Bush was president again.
It’s hard to tell at this point whether or not she’s doing this on purpose to disrespect Trump, or if her mind is slipping these days.
If it’s the former and not the latter, it’s time to grow up, put some big girl pants on, and accept that Trump’s in the White House, and get to work.
Highly unlikely that’ll ever happen, but hey, you never know.
