Nothing will change a gun-hating liberal into a proud practitioner of the Second Amendment faster than coming face-to-face with pure evil, the kind that’s determined to do you and your family serious harm.
This is precisely what happened to Lori Shelton, a resident of Mississippi who used to loathe firearms until someone invaded her home and stole her previous sense of peace and security.
Now, she’s taking a gun safety course and speaking out on the importance of having the means of self-defense at your disposal.
According to Breitbart, Shelton’s horrific experience occurred in April and she is now taking a firearm training course so she will be ready should her home be targeted again. She is also getting her concealed carry permit.
According to News Channel 3, Shelton said, “I was getting ready for work doing my normal routine, and I heard a noise as I was getting out of the shower.” She looked to see the source of the noise and “saw a man coming through the back of the house.” She said, “The first thing I thought was I gotta do something.” But she was limited on options: her daughter was in bed asleep, her husband was at work, and she did not have a gun.
Shelton checked again to see where the suspect was, saying, “I peeked through the blinds, the blinds stayed closed and peeked through and saw him looking at me. I mean we made complete eye contact. He proceeded to come through the back of the house, and I ran back and dialed 911.”
By the time police arrived on the scene, the suspect had bolted from Shelton’s house. He was apprehended a short time later.
Despite the fortunate resolution to the situation, Shelton said the suspect stole her “sense of security,” and has even started bringing her 15-year-old daughter to the gun training course with her, so that she can use the weapon appropriately, safely, and with its intended purpose.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is a story that every anti-gun left-winger needs to see, as it illustrates the point we’ve all made time and again about the benefit of owning a gun and being properly trained in how to use it, abundantly clear.
The average police response time is somewhere around eight minutes. Do you know what can happen in a span of eight minutes? A whole lot of bad, that’s what.
Rather than allow your fate to rest in the hands of others who may not be able to reach you in time, why not take responsibility for your own safety by exercising your Second Amendment rights?
If you’re still anti-gun, that’s your choice. The problem comes when you attempt to take away someone else’s choice in the matter and infringe on their right and ability to protect themselves and the possessions they’ve worked for.
Hopefully more folks will wake up to the reality Shelton did before it’s too late.
