House oversight committee drops MAJOR announcement on Trump investigation

The political atmosphere has been abuzz ever since President Trump decided to give FBI Director James Comey the boot last week, with many folks — mostly in the media — claiming he did so in order to interfere with a probe by the FBI to investigate whether he shared classified information with Russia.

The left has been foaming at the mouth, hoping there would be some sort of indication of wrongdoing that would lead to Trump being impeached and removed from office.

Well, it appears there’s going to be further digging into the reasoning behind why the president fired Comey.

According to WSOCTV.Com, The House oversight committee has set a May 24 hearing to investigate if Donald Trump interfered in FBI probe, and has asked James Comey to testify.

As of the writing of this piece there’s no further details about the investigation or the hearing.

One of the bigger controversies surrounding this kerfuffle at the moment is an alleged memo from James Comey that, according to “sources,” is supposedly damning.

Here are a few details via ABC News:

Recently fired FBI Director James Comey was asked by President Trump to drop the bureau’s investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, according to a memo Comey wrote of his meeting with the president. Details of the memo, first reported by The New York Times on Tuesday, were later confirmed to ABC by sources close to Comey.

In the memo, which Comey shared with top FBI associates, he wrote that Trump said, “I hope you can let this go,” referring to the inquiry into Flynn’s actions. “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go,” said Trump, according to a source who read the memo. “He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”

Multiple sources who worked closely with Comey, including at the Justice Department, say he is known for his contemporaneous and thorough note-taking. “He documents everything,” one source said.

ABC News has not seen the memo.

Trump’s alleged request to Comey about the Flynn investigation came the day after Flynn was forced to resign after misleading the administration about his contacts with Russian officials. The FBI, which is investigating Russian interference in last year’s presidential election, declined to comment on the story.

But remember, the FBI cleared Flynn of any wrongdoing on January 24th.

It’s important to note that since we don’t have all the facts in this situation, no one can really draw a full conclusion about what happened. Well, except for “anonymous sources.”
