If there’s one word that dominates Washington DC at this time it’s hypocrisy.
Hypocrisy is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not: behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe or feel.”
Let’s take for example the Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, who are whining ad nauseam about the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch. Schumer has threatened a filibuster, which I don’t recall the Republicans doing for either Elena Kagan or Sonya Sotomayor, two über leftist progressive justices.
Schumer has been wailing about current Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell potentially utilizing the “nuclear option,” a simple majority vote, for the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch.
However, I don’t recall Schumer saying a single thing when former Senate Majority Leader and Democrat,Harry Reid invoked the nuclear option for lower court judicial appointments, cabinet positions, and ambassadorships.
And then we have Schumer last weekend suggesting that the Republicans should just dump Gorsuch and work with the Senate Democrats to select a Supreme Court nominee…huh?
So ol’ Chuckie takes an oath to the Constitution, but recommends enacting a procedure that contradicts the Constitution. In other words, presidents nominate Supreme Court justices, then the executive branch, the legislative branch — namely the Senate — conducts the checks and balances as a coequal branch of government by way of hearings. So what is Senator Chuck Schumer talking about? Hypocrisy.
Remember how Schumer and Joe Biden spoke against President Bush nominating a justice in his final year? And so we had more hypocrisy and Democrat unrighteous indignation over Merrick Garland during Obama’s waning administration.
And then we have this whole fiasco over former National Security Adviser, Susan Rice. Let’s be clear, that position does not have to undergo Senate confirmation. The duties of the NSA have nothing to do with conducting investigations. One is supposed to develop the national security strategy and policy for the president. And never forget, the NSA receives direction from only one person: the president.
So when Susan Rice goes out and lies on five Sunday talk shows, only one person can direct her to do so. When Susan Rice is asking for intelligence documents and requesting the “unmasking” of the names of Americans…only one person can direct that, unless she was a rogue actor?
And how stupid — no, stuck on stupid — for idiot Chris Matthews at MSNBC to intonate that this is all racist and sexist. I suppose the ultimate hypocrisy is that if you’re a liberal progressive socialist black or woman, you can lie and deceive.
Doggone, just imagine if this were any Republican or conservative guilty of such nefarious activities? And the pure definition of hypocrisy is a liberal progressive media that says, nothing here to see with Susan Rice, it’s just a distraction from the real issue: Russian involvement in our election and collusion with Donald Trump.
Funny, do y’all recall anyone in the liberal progressive media ranting about Barack Obama’s campaign operatives’ involvement in the Israeli elections against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu…and the use of U.S. taxpayer dollars? Oops, according to Matthews I’m now a racist because Obama is black – well, he’s technically half black, so I’m only a half racist.
But, I must be faithful and true, because this word hypocrisy in Washington DC is a bipartisan issue.
As reported by Breitbart.com, “The Trump Administration rewarded Border Patrol agents for their support of Trump as president by picking an Obama holdover whom they despise to be their boss.
Trump chose the Obama-hired Customs and Border deputy who was tasked with enacting Obama’s open border vision to lead the parent agency of Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
All of the Border Patrol agents who spoke with Breitbart Texas Managing Director Brandon Darby from all nine Southwest border sectors expressed feeling betrayed or otherwise hurt by Trump choosing a man who did so much damage to them to be their new boss. Many expressed regret for having supported Trump in the first place and for having believed he would actually listen to them and care about what they experienced while risking their lives for other Americans.
The feelings of betrayal come just days after the announcement of Obama-hire Kevin McAleenan as the next Commissioner of CBP. While the organization that represents the agents, the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has not spoken about the nomination, Darby spoke about how the line agents feel let down. His comments were made on the Texas radio show The Pursuit of Happiness.
“I know that Trump has promised to get the National Border Patrol Council and agents a large voice in what happens on the border,” Darby said. “ Last Friday he picked Kevin McAleenan, he nominated him to be the Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, the parent agency of Border Patrol.” During the show, Darby spoke on how McAleenan is not only a holdover from the Obama administration, but a key player during the previous administration’s push for a less secure border.
“He nominated this guy… the problem is that this guy was hired by Barack Obama and was made deputy of [CBP] and all of the things we fought against on the border happened under this guy’s watch and he would have been the one responsible for implementing them. That’s DACA, DAPA and Catch and Release.” Darby said referring to some of the controversial programs started under the Obama administration.”
The hypocrisy here is completely evident. Why place an Obama holdover in charge of securing the border, which you ran on as one of your premier issues?
Everything that Barack Obama and Kevin McAleenan stood for and enacted as policy in reference to our border security is antithetical to what Donald J. Trump stated –or maybe it was all just a show. This appears to be a really bad case of politics as usual, and certainly not “draining the swamp.”
You cannot convince me there were no individuals more qualified and consistent with President Trump’s policy positions on border security who could have filled this position. Why complain about the “deep state” if you’re perpetuating its existence?
Perhaps President Trump believes that we the American people and these Border Patrol agents aren’t significant, or not sophisticated enough to understand this selection. We’ve shared here previously some of our concerns about Obama holdovers having key positions in the Trump administration, and how President Trump is lagging behind in nominating individuals to key deputy and undersecretary positions throughout the administration.
One of those positions was the secretary of the Veterans Administration, Dr. David Shulkin. Shulkin is the first person to ever hold this position who has never served in the military. Also, Dr. Shulkin was the head of the Veterans Health Administration under Barack Obama. That means he was the person responsible for VA Hospitals during the shameful scandals that plagued the Obama administration for which no one was held accountable…and this is whom President Trump selects to run the entire VA? And it’s very telling that Dr. David Shulkin’s confirmation vote was 100-0. Yes, not a single peep from ol’ Chuckie Schumer – that’s very telling don’t you think? The hypocrisy is clearly evident. Candidate Trump rails against the Obama administration and its treatment of our veterans, yet appoints the person responsible for those heinous actions to be his VA Secretary.
I despise hypocrisy. Folks can denigrate, demean, disparage, and hate me all they want, but I will be consistent in my assessments, analysis and policy positions. I do not like political double speak.
Earlier this week we shared with you how we no longer hear anything from President Trump on the Iranian nuclear agreement, which he railed against during the campaign. The selections of Kevin McAleenan and Dr. David Shulkin to the very key positions of Head of CBP and the VA, respectively, as Obama holdovers is disconcerting. And we need to ask ourselves, Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot is happening?
