For the last eight years we’ve had a president who didn’t seem to give two hoots for our brave men and women serving in the armed forces, often slighting them by not saluting when getting on and off Air Force One.
Then there’s the cutting of their funds, doing jack squat to fix the VA, and the big one: Benghazi.
Well, it looks like those days are behind us, as President Trump shows our veterans the kind of respect a commander in chief should show those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.
According to Townhall:
President Donald Trump — along with the First Lady, Vice President Pence and his wife — welcomed 50 wounded service members and veterans to the White House, Thursday, to kick off the ninth annual Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Soldier Ride in Washington, D.C.
The four-day cycling event is meant to help wounded service members and veterans overcome the physical, mental and emotional wounds of war and regain confidence in themselves.
Trump praised the “incredible tradition” for honoring America’s “real heroes” who have sacrificed it all to “keep our people safe and our democracy secure.”
“You’ve earned our freedom with your sweat and your blood. We salute you, we salute your service,” Trump told the warriors.
“I call them America’s winners, because they’re winners,” he added.
Trump said he was proud to carry on the tradition of welcoming the event’s participants to the White House – an honor he said he should have for “about seven more years.” The crowd erupted in applause.
Gotta love his confidence about winning reelection in 2020. If he keeps working to undo the disastrous policies of the Obama era, like Obamacare, and builds our national defense back up, he stands a pretty good chance of obtaining such a victory.
If you know any veterans, be sure to let them know how much they are appreciated for all they’ve done for our country.
