Yes: Trump delivers DECISIVE blow to UN….

Following the UK’s shocking decision to leave the EU, many in the US called for America to make a similar move and leave the UN. Although that plan remains unlikely, calls to cut off funding for the UN have earned considerably more support. On the campaign trail, Trump expressed a willingness to entertain the idea, leading many to speculate the plan would come to fruition.

Of course, cutting off funding for the UN would be a massive legislative undertaking. As such, any action to do so will be calculated and slow. However, that hasn’t stopped President Trump from taking action in areas where he has authority to do so. In fact, his latest move will not only cut off some UN funding, but will help combat UN-sponsored human rights abuses.

From the Daily Signal:

According to the Kemp-Kasten amendment, which has been regularly attached to foreign appropriations bills since 1985, the president has the authority to withhold federal funding from any organization that “supports or participates in the management of a program of coercive abortion or involuntary sterilization.”

On April 3, a State Department memo announced that the U.S. will do just that.

During the Reagan and both Bush administrations, the Kemp-Kasten amendment was invoked and the U.S. withheld funding from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) due to its continued support for and participation in the Chinese government’s coercive family planning practices, which include forced abortion and involuntary sterilization.

While denying the UN American funding for such human rights abuses may seem like an obvious choice, both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama allowed for millions of taxpayers’ money to do just that:

The Clinton and Obama administrations made no such determinations, so during their time in office the United States sent hundreds of millions of dollars to the UNFPA.

China’s one child policy is a gross violation of human rights, yet for years the UN has been funneling money to the country in support of the policy. The results for the people of China have been disastrous:

Declining fertility rates, cultural and legal systems that favor men, prenatal sex-determination tests, and sex-selective abortion have led to a skewed sex ratio, which exacerbates a devastating gender imbalance across China.

Many men are demographically unable to find a wife due to the country’s extreme gender imbalance. These so-called “bare branches” are at an increased risk for suffering from depression, suicidal thoughts, and aggression.

The shortage of marriageable women has led to an increased demand for forced marriages and sex trafficking, as well as infant kidnappings/trafficking and fraudulent adoptions.

Instead of forcing American taxpayers to subsidize human rights abuses on the other side of the globe, Trump’s move pulls U.S. funding completely. It’s a move that should be celebrated, not just for defying the UN, but for returning America to its proper role of defending those who cannot defend themselves.
