HA: Here’s the HILARIOUS reason Kaepernick isn’t getting signed now…

If the first rule of Fight Club is not to talk about Fight Club, then the first rule of Vegan Club is to talk about Vegan Club. The controversial San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made it public last August that he went vegan nine months prior, after he’d suffered some noticeable muscle loss.

The man is now team-less, and struggling to get signed. We reported previously that Kaepernick is wildly unpopular among those in the NFL, with an anonymous manager from the NFL’s American Football Conference stating that 70 percent of teams “genuinely hate him and can’t stand what he did [kneeling for the national anthem]. They want nothing to do with him.” That’s about proportional with the 72 percent of Americans polled who viewed his protest as unpatriotic.

Among the other excuses for why a team won’t pick him up? His veganism (yes, really).

According to MSN, We’ve heard pretty much every excuse as to why Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent. The speculation began with his politics, then it was his poor football play, then it was his demands and now it’s reportedly his diet.

The quarterback changed his diet to vegan after dating television star Nessa Diab. She revealed last offseason they had gone vegan together as a couple, and the quarterback later admitted himself he had switched to the diet.

Most storylines on Kaepernick last season dealt with his refusal to stand for the anthem, but there was actually a bit of commotion regarding him becoming vegan. He had a noticeable weight loss because protein (most commonly ingested through meats and dairy products) is crucial to maintaining muscle mass.

The excuse is attributable to a tweet from sports reporter Matt Maiocco, who has been covering the San Francisco 49ers for the past 23 years.

Sound a bit ridiculous? It probably is, especially when you consider there are other quarterbacks (like Tom Brady) whose diet is almost entirely vegan. Even Maiocco recognized the pettiness of it, claiming he was just the messenger.

It is odd that someone of Kaepernick’s age and athletic ability has gone unsigned, and it’s worth noting that seven months ago, Bleacher Report interviewed a handful of NFL execs, each of which concurred that Kaepernick would likely be released by the 49ers “and never play in the NFL again.”

As the excuses become more and more ridiculous, it becomes more and more clear that nobody in the NFL simply wants to take on the potential liability in bringing him on their team.

At least he’s getting his fiber.
