After trying his hand at comedy last night, it’s evident Democrat Rep. Cedric Richmond shouldn’t quit his day job anytime soon. Speaking at the Washington Press Club Foundation’s congressional dinner, he made a crack about the most ridiculous “scandal” of the Trump administration: White House counselor Kellyanne Conway kneeling on a couch in the Oval Office in order to take a photo of leaders from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities who were visiting that day.
According to the Washington Examiner, Richmond joked last night that Kellyanne Conway “looked kind of familiar” in the photo of her kneeling on the couch in the Oval Office this week. Richmond, D-La., made the crack during the Washington Press Club Foundation’s congressional dinner, in a room full of congressmen and reporters.
“I really just want to know what was going on there,” Richmond said. “I won’t tell anybody, and you can just explain to me that circumstance because she really looked kind of familiar in that position there.”
Richmond’s comment got no laughs and a few scattered groans.
Painful. “Cedric the Entertainer” he ain’t.
This is hardly the first time since the election that Richmond has made some comments that turned heads. When testifying against the nomination of Jeff Sessions with other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, he complained that testifying last was analogous to being seated on the back of the bus (someone had to testify last, didn’t they?). Not long before that, he said”we just may have to kick someone’s ass” after an anti-cop mural that portrays police as animals was moved by Republican lawmakers a second time.
On second thought, does anyone NOT want him to quit his day job?
