President Trump’s address to the Joint Session of Congress last night was remarkable in that it actually drew PRAISE from liberal media. Even THEY couldn’t deny he’d done an excellent job.

Democrat strategist Kirsten Powers had her own little gush:

Even MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow had positive things to say (per The Hill), “This will be a very well-received speech for Donald Trump. I think it’s fair to say it’s a product of expectations that’s he’s not seen of somebody who necessarily gives a good formal speech.”
Praise was high as well from Fox News’ Chris Wallace, who hasn’t always been enthusiastic about Trump. But this time he said, “I thought it was by far the best speech I’ve ever heard Donald Trump give,” he said. “It was one of the best speeches in that setting I’ve ever heard any president give.”
Nonetheless, it would be foolish to assume this uplifting moment will heal the rift between the president and the press. This cartoon perfectly sums up the sentiment.
Of his own speech, Trump had an uncharacteristically brief and modest response:

Perhaps we’re entering a new phase?
