BREAKING: ANOTHER vehicle drives into a crowd, this time in…

In what is sadly becoming a common occurrence, news is breaking today that another vehicle has mowed into a crowd of people.

From Fox News:

A vehicle “mowed” into several members of a band who were set to march in a Mardi Gras parade in Alabama on Tuesday, injuring nearly a dozen people.

A city spokesperson said 11 people were injured, including three people who were in critical condition, WKRG reported.

The vehicle was “a part of the parade,” according to an official, and witnesses told FOX10 that it was a white van with MOAA on its side that was driven by an elderly man. MOAA are the initials of the Military Officers Association of America.

Motive is still unclear, but Homeland Security is monitoring the situation for signs of terrorism.

Sadly, the victims of the tragedy appear to be a teen band:

“A teenage band has just started to march down the parade route when they were struck from behind,” said Grant Brown, a spokesperson for the city of Gulf Shores. “The vehicle was a part of the parade.”

Gulf Shores cancelled the parade after the incident and closed U.S. Highway 59 in the immediate area.

The news comes as authorities are still piecing together a similar incident in New Orleans just days ago. There, a driver plowed into a Mardi Gras parade, apparently due to being intoxicated. In that incident, 28 people were injured.

Whether or not alcohol was a factor in this incident is still unknown, but news of vehicles running through crowds of pedestrians have become all too commonplace. In Germany, two such incidents have taken place in the last year, with one of those being confirmed as being linked to terrorism.

More on this story as it develops.
