Despite what the Democrat establishment may think, no, Americans are not stupid. We finally saw through Barack Obama’s lies. We rejected Hillary Clinton, and we’re not falling for the fake news.
Nonetheless, DC Democrats seem to think attacking President Trump at every turn, undermining his attempts to govern and spreading lies about him and his cabinet are exactly what Americans want them to do.
They shall soon find out how wrong they are.
A new poll shows a hefty majority of Americans — 73 percent — want the Democrats to work with the president, according to the inaugural Harvard-Harris poll provided exclusively by The Hill.
The Hill reports, The survey found that 73 percent of voters want to see Democrats work with the president, against only 27 percent who said Democrats should resist Trump’s every move.
The findings are significant as Democratic leaders in Congress are under growing pressure by their liberal base to obstruct the president’s agenda.
Except that “liberal base” isn’t a huge majority.
The poll shows the party is divided on how to deal with Trump: 52 percent of Democrats polled say they should cooperate with him on areas of agreement and 48 percent saying they shouldn’t.
Those figures are nearly identical when the question is flipped – 68 percent of those polled say that Trump should be willing to compromise and find ways to work with Democrats in Congress. Thirty-two percent said Trump shouldn’t bend at all, even if it means finding ways to achieve his agenda without congressional approval.
Republicans are similarly divided here, with 48 percent wanting compromise and 52 percent saying Trump should be unwavering.
“This shows that voters want Trump and Democrats to compromise and if they don’t, they both may pay a heavy price with the electorate,” said Mark Penn, the co-director of the Harvard-Harris poll.
Here’s the thing though…Republicans hold majorities in both the House and Senate — doesn’t that count for anything? So far, Republicans in Congress have been working with Democrats — and they’ve hardly touched hot button issues such as welfare reform, tax reform or Obamacare.
Republicans aren’t the ones obstructing the president’s cabinet appointments. Republicans aren’t the ones holding all night sit-ins on the floor of the House or Senate.
Theoretically Republicans hold all the cards here — it’s the Democrats who are the jokers, and it’s the Democrats saying they’ll do anything to obstruct Trump’s agenda. You don’t hear a peep from the GOP, telling the Democrats to “get to the back of the bus.” (because of course that would be RACIST anyway).
And unfortunately the only obstructionism we’re seeing from the Republicans is against TRUMP’s agenda — not the Democrats.’
Gee, we thought once we won the White House and Congress, it’d be smooth sailing. What a crock THAT was.
