Just moments ago, President Donald Trump continued a tradition started by former President Barack Obama, who sat down for six years of one-on-one interviews on Super Bowl Sunday. George W. Bush also had two pre-Super Bowl interviews.
Three of Obama’s interviews were with Bill O’Reilly, as was Trump’s which just aired. It was a pretty standard interview – but there’s one exchange in particular that’s bound to generate controversy.
Here’s the transcript of how Trump responded when asked if he respects Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
There have been several poisonings of Putin’s political opponents over the years, in addition to shootings, mysterious heart attacks, and car accidents. It’s not a stretch to speculate that those deaths could’ve been ordered by Putin himself (which is likely what O’Reily is referring to).
It’s unclear what Trump was referring to specifically. If he was talking about foreign policy, Trump has vocally opposed the war in Iraq for years, so that could possibly be it. If he has information about past-killer presidents, that’s information we’d all like to hear.
Either that, or he’s aware that opposing Putin can be hazardous to one’s health.
