Liberals can’t accept the fact they were defeated in the 2016 election. Rather than considering their lack of a solid candidate, or a message that connected with voters, they turned their ire on forces outside of their control.
Of all the excuses liberals have to explain away their losses, perhaps the most ridiculous is their obsession with fake news. Of course, in the alternate universe that is Liberal Land, fake news only applies to news they don’t agree with. Moreover, the implication that Americans shouldn’t be able to decide for themselves what sources of news to trust is an insult to our intelligence. It’s to be expected from the group that thinks it knows how to run our lives better than we do. And, of course, there’s the mainstream media itself, which is, perhaps, the biggest purveyor of misleading information despite their assumed reputation for being trustworthy.
Unfortunately, liberals have powerful allies all over the country. Not only are the mainstream media and Hollywood elites overwhelmingly liberal, so is the center of our tech economy, Silicon Valley. And, Silicon Valley may now pose the greatest threat to conservative news sources yet.
David Brock’s left-wing media “watchdog” Media Matters for America is “engaging with Facebook behind the scenes” to shape the social network’s fight against “fake news,” according to a report by the Washington Free Beacon.
A document posted by the Washington Free Beacon outlines Media Matters’ plans to battle the “fake news” and “propaganda” that they believe led to the election of Donald Trump. Describing their relationship with Facebook, the documents states, “Media Matters will serve as their partner,” and that Media Matters’ goal is to help Facebook “adjust its model to stem the flow of damaging fake news on its platform’s pages.”
“We’ve been engaging with Facebook leadership behind the scenes to share our expertise and offer input on developing meaningful solutions,” it continues. Media Matters pressured Facebook during the 2016 election to focus on the “fake news” they believed to be spreading across social media.
It’s not hard to see where this going. Not only does Facebook have a history of censoring conservative news, their CEO is known to have liberal political ambitions. Teaming up with an outlet like Media Matters — a publication with selective outrage when it comes to what side of the political spectrum to attack — confirms the obvious. When tech giants say they are going after fake news, they really mean conservative news.
Instead of focusing on issues average Americans actually care about, liberal elites are attempting to silence the opposition. It’s time for Americans to stand up for their right to free speech, and let liberals know they won’t be able to win by silencing us.
