3 Doors Down – the band behind the smash hit, Kryptonite – showed the world not only their talent during Thursday night’s pre-inauguration festivities, but their willingness to take on the vitriol spewed toward those participating.
Class acts like Jennifer Holliday and others have kowtowed to pressure from the “oh-so-tolerant” left, and backed out of performing at the time-honored celebration of country.
Not so with 3 Doors Down.
The rockers not only wanted to perform, they put pride of country first to do so. In addition to gifting us with their immense talent, the band put their patriotism on display, saying, “God bless you,” and “God bless America” throughout their performance.
According to Spin:
“’They come from conservative families,’ [band manager Agnus] Vail explained. And their families don’t just lean right: “When Obama got elected, the singer [Brad Arnold] said please don’t talk to my father about Obama because he thinks the world has ended,” Vail said. “He was just as horrified and depressed about Obama as many are about Trump. They were like, ‘It’s going to be Armageddon, the whole world is going to communism and he’s going to give everything away to the welfare state.’”
Of course liberal outlets pounced on the opportunity to use their bully-pulpit to lash out. Despite an impressive 13 million copies sold of their first album — aptly titled The Better Life – Vulture.com trashed the band in a recent article, saying:
“Founded in 1996 in the Gulf Coast town of Escatawpa, Mississippi, 3 Doors Down is most easily classified by its lack of character. The band’s sound is not easily distinguishable from that of the multitude of rock bands that found radio and chart success around the turn of the millennium, Nickelback chief among them.”
Message received. Anyone not agreeing with the draconian tactics of the left will be vilified. But….tolerance!
Snoop Dogg issued a video with the intent to intimidate those considering performing, by saying he would be “waiting to roast” them. Jennifer Holliday stated she received death threats after announcing her intent to perform at the “’Make America Great Again’ Welcome Concert.”
Yet, the spin is no one wanted to perform. Maybe no one wanted death threats, or their careers blacklisted by the Hollywood elite?
Despite it all, 3 Doors Down braved all of the intimidation for pure love of country. As the Spin article concluded:
“The more liberals that get all hot under their collar about it, the more we’re appreciated by a whole bunch of conservatives.”
Like Jackie Evancho saw soaring sales after agreeing to perform, we can only hope the same for 3 Doors Down.
