Orlando cop shot multiple times DIES; suspect is…

Florida is once again in the news today for another tragedy. Master Sgt Debra Clayton a 17-year veteran of the Orlando Police Department was gunned down today in the parking lot of a Walmart when she tried to make contact with a suspect in a murder case.

Early this morning per WFTV.com, Clayton had been shopping in the store and was putting bags into the trunk of her vehicle when she was approached by another shopper, Herman said.

“The customer walked up to her and said that someone they were looking for, wanted, was in the store in the line to check out,” he said. “She went in there, I guess, to confront him. As she was going back to Walmart, he was coming out, and he shot her.”

He said the gunman fired at least 12 gunshots.

A massive manhunt is now underway for the shooter, identified as Markeith Lloyd, who has been on the run since Dec. 13 when his pregnant ex-girlfriend was shot to death outside of her home. Lloyd is wanted in connection for her murder. Fox News says according to court records, he had been arrested 20 times in Orange County since 1994.

Separately, a second fatality has occurred as a result of this incident. Fox News reports, Amid the manhunt, a motorcycle crash killed an Orange County sheriff’s deputy searching for the suspect, the sheriff announced.

A number of schools in the area have been placed on lockdown as the manhunt continues.

Lloyd is described as armed and very dangerous and authorities have urged residents in the area to stay indoors and out of harm’s way as the manhunt continues.

It is heartbreaking and terrifying to watch this latest tragedy unfold. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the slain officers — an all too familiar scenario these days.

Tragically, these deaths occurred on “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.”

We hope Lloyd will be swiftly brought to justice…the old-fashioned way.
