Remember when Hillary Clinton, Democrats, and the liberal media were outraged that Donald Trump wouldn’t commit to accepting the election results? If you were to believe the rhetoric, Trump taking a wait and see approach until after election night was akin to a hostile threat to the democratic process.
Of course, none of the talk ended up mattering when Donald Trump ended up winning the election. Naturally, liberals
accepted defeat gracefully completely lost their minds. All the talk about how important it was to accept the results of the election and peacefully transfer power went out the window as soon as the results started rolling in and their preferred candidate lost the election.
Apparently ignorant of the hypocrisy, liberals immediately went to work on undermining the results. First they screamed about the Electoral College, then they tried to get a recount, then they started blaming Russian hackers for the loss. When none of that worked, they tried to steal the election through the Electoral College process they were so against just a few weeks before.
Predictably, all their efforts to change the will of the American people failed. End of story, right?
With just a few weeks to go before the inauguration, House Democrats are launching a last ditch effort to stop Trump. From Politico:
Several House Democrats are weighing a formal challenge to Donald Trump’s election on Friday, when Congress meets in joint session to certify Trump’s Electoral College victory.
Reps. Ed Perlmutter of Colorado, Bobby Scott of Virginia, Rep. John Conyers of Michigan and Jamie Raskin of Maryland are among a group of Democrats eyeing challenges.Members have the right to lodge those protests when Congress officially counts the electoral votes on Friday. But for the protests to have any effect on the proceedings, they’ll need to secure the backing of at least one senator, and it’s unclear whether any Senate Democrats are weighing a similar challenge.
Although the members claim this is not an effort to stop Trump, but a symbolic gesture meant to highlight the Russian hacking of the election, the result is the same. The Democratic Party that was so caught up in one side not accepting the results of the election is having a hard time following its own advice.
Of course, it is also worth noting that Republicans have not launched similar efforts to protest the elections of Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. In fact, the last time this strategy was used was by Democrats claiming voter fraud in 2004.
As with all of the other attempts by Democrats to impede or delegitimatize Trump’s historic victory, this too will end in failure. While Democrats work to undermine the American people, Republicans continue to go to work offering solutions to move the country forward.
