The Democrat Party has become the party of identity politics, and dividing people by their identities has hardly unified the party.
Rather than do any self-reflection following their devastating loss to Donald Trump (and in the House, Senate, majority of state Legislatures, and majority of governorships), they’re continuing the same old identity politics that cost them the election in the first place. The Party is currently looking for the next chair to head the DNC (as their last chair, and current interim chair face serious ethics concerns), and it looks like they’re going to pick someone based on identity rather than qualifications.
Democrat strategist and former Bernie Sanders spokeswoman Symonne Sanders (no relation) said on CNN that “we don’t need white people leading the Democratic party right now” – and the party listened. The current pick will likely be Keith Ellison now, a man who once proposed making a separate country for blacks. His connections to the Muslim Brotherhood and opposition to the State of Israel are worrisome to many, and among those threatening to leave the party over his likely appointment is none other than liberal Alan Dershowitz.
As Townhall reported: While Alan Dershowitz is a staunch liberal, he’s threatening to leave the Democratic Party should Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) become the next chairman for the national committee. Dershowitz, a renowned attorney and Israel supporter, said he would resign due to Ellison’s positions on the Israeli-Palestinian issue and his association with Louis Farrakhan.
Speaking on Fox Business, Dershowitz said there is a divide in the Democratic Party over Jewish issues, particularly the support of Israel, or lack thereof, offered by the Obama administration.
Dershowitz said Ellison’s past praise of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is enough to make him and other Jews leave the party. “It does, and if they now appoint Keith Ellison, who worked with Farrakhan, to be chairman of the DNC you’re going to see a lot of people leave” Dershowitz said. “I’m going to tell you right here on this show and this is news, if they appoint Keith Ellison to be chairman of the Democratic Party, I will resign my membership to the Democratic Party after 50 years of being a loyal Democrat.”
Here’s the cost of identity politics to the Left, in one image:
Democrats don’t seem intent on changing a thing following their defeat to Trump – and thank God for that.
