Democrats continue to struggle to come to grips with the fact that they got hammered in last month’s election — a veritable blood bath of red sweeping across this great nation.
Of course, they were positively hysterical when then-candidate Donald J. Trump would not commit to readily accepting the results of the election — leaving the door open to contest them if in fact there was solid reason to do so. And yet, in the wake of their loss, Democrats have been engaged in a persistent game of trying anything possible to overturn the results — or at the very least, diminish their credibility. From trying to sway electors to change their votes, to suggesting our whole electoral system be changed, to pursuing costly, baseless recounts, you have to wonder what they’ll try next?
Well, here we go.
As Politico reports:
President Barack Obama has ordered a “full review” of hacking-relating activity aimed at disrupting last month’s presidential election and he expects that report before he leaves office on Jan. 20, a top White House official said Friday.
“We may be crossed into a new threshold and it is incumbent upon us to take stock of that, to review, to conduct some after-action, to understand what this means, what has happened and to impart those lessons learned,” Obama counterterrorism and homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco told reporters at a breakfast arranged by the Christian Science Monitor.
U.S. intelligence officials have blamed the Russian government for pre-election hacking of Democratic officials and political committees. Several Democratic senators have asked Obama to declassify more details about the attacks and why the U.S. concluded the Russians were behind them.
The most transparent administration ever wouldn’t commit to sharing the results of the review, but said it would be shared with “a range of stakeholders,” including members of Congress.
Now, this latest move — like the others in the works — would not overturn the election results, but would stand to potentially cast a shadow on President-elect Trump’s victory.
Exactly the Obama administration’s intent, of course. Since when have they been concerned about cybersecurity or fraud surrounding Hillary Clinton?
Will the Democrats eventually run out of outside excuses for their loss and be forced to look inside themselves?
So far, that seems unlikely.
