Thanksgiving weekend has proven to be especially deadly for the citizens of Chicago.
The Chicago Tribune reports, Two men were killed and 15 other people, including two 15-year-old boys, were wounded in shootings between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday, police said.
But that’s only from Saturday afternoon on.
From 7 p.m. Wednesday through the early hours of Saturday, according to ABC7 Chicago, At least 36 people have been shot, four fatally, in attacks across the city over Thanksgiving weekend, according to Chicago Police.
About 2:15 a.m. Saturday two gunmen opened fire outside a house party in the South Chicago neighborhood’s 8800 block of South Exchange, authorities said. A 20-year-old man shot in the chest was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released his name.
So far, none of the gunmen have been identified as Trump supporters.
For these two stories alone, that’s a total of 52 people shot, with six of those fatal.
However, it bears noting that for the last week alone in Chicago, from November 20-26, 80 people have been shot, 15 fatally. The total to so far this year is 4,031 people shot and 650 killed. Of those killed, police officers were responsible for 10 deaths, which equates to just 1.5 percent.
But according to supporters of Black Lives Matter, those sorts of statistics PROVE there’s an epidemic of police officers hunting down and killing black men.
Any death is a tragedy, but you’d think perhaps the black community and the social justice warriors might find it in their hearts to be concerned about the other 640 souls.
