Most of you probably don’t torture yourself by reading the Huffington Post, but if you’d visited their website after Donald Trump’s rise in the presidential race, you’d have noticed an editor’s note at the end of all of their election coverage.
We all knew already the media was in the tank for the Left — though I (Matt Palumbo) guess it’s generous of the HuffPo to come out and remove all doubt.
Even as liberals are still in mourning, now the publication has done an about-face and removed the anti-Trump “disclaimer” from their articles. As the Business Insider reported: With Trump now the president-elect, that note will be removed. Politico’s Hadas Gold first reported the change.
Ryan Grim, the head of The Huffington Post’s Washington bureau, sent a staff memo on Tuesday evening saying the decision was meant to give Trump a fresh start. “The thinking is that (assuming he wins) that he’s now president and we’re going to start with a clean slate,” Grim wrote, according to Politico. “If he governs in a racist, misogynistic way, we reserve the right to add it back on. This would be giving respect to the office of the presidency which Trump and his backers never did.”
However, that’s about the only decent thing they’ve done since Trump’s victory. The same website that (rightly) hammered Republicans who would compare President Barack Obama to Hitler is now going all in on Godwin’s Law. (Note: some of the posts are from before the election, but it still illustrates hypocrisy on their behalf).
As seems to be the case with the Left — it’s only OK when they do it. As I’ve said before; if liberals didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any standards at all.
