PC spin unwinds as NEW details emerge about Seattle mall shooter

When a young man picked up a rifle at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, WA and killed 5 people before walking out, initial reports said he appeared to be “Hispanic.”

But then he was captured and identified as 20-year-old Arcan Cetin, born in Turkey but living in the United States since he was a toddler. Not Hispanic.

Then the story was, well maybe the “motive” for his action was personal, as his ex-girlfriend worked at the Macy’s store where the shooting began – even though they had broken up some months before, and she no longer worked there (but apparently cosmetics can be triggers for unpleasant thoughts).

Now we also know Cetin was a Muslim, and more than one post in his social media accounts features ISIS and other Islamic subjects.

The spin is unwinding quickly.

As Breitbart reports, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), chair of the House Committee on Homeland Security, told Fox News’ Mario Bartiromo on Sunday morning that “there’s a good chance” Friday’s mass shooting at mall in Washington “could be” Islamic terrorism.

McCaul appeared on Sunday Morning Futures to discuss the latest developments in a week of violence, from last weekend’s bombings in New York and New Jersey, which were allegedly carried out by Muslim immigrant Ahmad Khan Rahami, to the shooting at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Washington.

Bartiromo and McCaul discussed both attacks, and discussed possible terror links in the latter case:

Bartiromo: There was a Washington mall shooter. He’s been caught. The suspect was 20 years old. Turkish, Muslim, Arcan Cetin. He was arrested for murder of the five people he killed in the mall in Washington State. What can you tell us about him? Is this related to Islamic terrorism?

McCaul: Well, I think there was a good chance it could be. I know right now law enforcement, FBI is playing it safe, saying there are no links to terrorism. That’s true at least from the evidence so far. I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out more details about this individual, as well as we did Mr. [Ahmad Khan] Rahami.

Yes, there’s a good chance it could be. And there’s a good chance there are dozens if not hundreds of other human ticking time bombs all across our nation, waiting their turn to wage jihad.

We’re scrambling to strengthen our borders and improve our vetting process while tip-toeing around the true analysis we should be doing of the people already here. Why oh why do we want to let even more in?
