There is U.S. statute — a legal code — that specifies and defines the meaning of aiding and abetting the enemy along with providing material support and comfort.
Consider the case of Iran. How anyone could consider the Islamist regime as anything but adversarial would be the pure definition of delusional. Iran has been an enemy of America since the 1979 Islamic revolution. They’ve been responsible for hundreds of American dead and wounded dating back to 1983 and the Beirut barracks bombing to today. Iran is the number one state sponsor of Islamic terrorism in the world — and chanting “death to America” isn’t just empty rhetoric.
Iran has detained our Sailors at gunpoint. They’ve fired missiles within short range of our naval warships. And just last week, Iran, on three separate occasions, deployed its naval craft to harass our naval vessels. This isn’t the behavior of an ally, certainly not a friend, and definitely not someone seeking better relations.
However, the current Obama administration just cannot fathom this, entered into a nuclear “agreement” with the Iranians and still maintains its viability and value. It was this Obama administration that delivered $400 million of laundered cash on pallets as ransom to the Iranians enabling the release of four Americans held illegally by Iran.
At this moment, the Iranians still have three Americans illegally held hostage. And in a Bravo-Foxtrot-Oscar (blinding flash of the obvious) moment, the Obama State Department issued a travel advisory/warning to Americans to be aware of Iranian plans of taking Americans hostage. While those Iranian Revolutionary Guards (a designated terrorist organization, by the way), and their vessels were chasing and harassing our Navy, it was the Obama administration that illegally wired $1.3 billion to Iran.
We’ve shared the reports from the Obama administration, namely Secretary John Kerry, as being the main lobby group advocating for financial investment to Iran. And it’s the Obama administration pushing to remove any barriers for Boeing to secure aircraft contracts from Iran.
How does Iran respond to all of this appeasement, acquiescence, and capitulation? As reported by Reuters, “Iran has deployed the Russian-supplied S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system around its Fordow underground uranium enrichment facility, Iranian state media reported on Monday. Iranian state TV on Sunday aired footage of deployment of the recently delivered missile system to the nuclear site in the central Iran.
“Our main priority is to protect Iran’s nuclear facilities under any circumstances,” Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ (IRGC) air defense force told state TV. Iran and the six major powers reached a landmark nuclear deal in 2015 aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear programme in exchange for lifting nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Tehran over its disputed nuclear work.
Enrichment of uranium at the Fordow facility, around 100 km (60 miles) south of Tehran, has stopped since the implementation of the nuclear deal in January. Russia, under pressure from the West, in 2010 canceled a contract to deliver S-300s to Iran. But Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted that self-imposed ban in April 2015, after an interim deal was reached between Iran and the six powers. In August, Iran said that Russia had delivered main parts of the system to the country, adding that the missile system would be completely delivered by the end of 2016. The IRGC’s Esmaili did not say whether the system was operational, but added: “Today, Iran’s sky is one of the most secure in the Middle East.”
We’ve shared with you previously the lethality of the S-300 surface to air missile system, as well as provided an assessment of how Iran would employ them. Sadly, it appears we were correct. We’ve covered how the head of the Iranian Quds Force, another designated terrorist group, General Sulemani, and has illegally traveled to Russia. It would appear that lifting economic sanctions and the new found financial boon for Iran, courtesy of Barack Obama, has resulted in the purchase of this deadly system.
Last week I was in Panama City Beach Florida for the Republican Veterans of Florida banquet. I had the chance to speak with a couple of Air Force fighter pilots who detailed to me the S-300 system capability – it is a viable threat to some of our fixed wing combat aircraft. Needless to say, Vladimir Putin didn’t give Iran these systems out of the goodness of his heart. Certainly, they were purchased. And if there’s no uranium enrichment at the Fordow underground facility, then why are these S-300 systems being deployed there?
This is a very bad nightmare. And I challenge Obama’s progressive socialist Kool-aid drinkers to explain this to us. Explain to us how this cannot be viewed as aiding and abetting the enemy, providing material support and comfort by way of the release of billions of dollars.
And spare me the excuse that the funds belonged to Iran, the weapons deal that was made was with the Iranian government under the Shah of Iran.
After the Islamic revolution that resulted in our embassy being ransacked and Americans taken hostage, the deal was off — and no previous American president sought restitution to the ayatollahs.
So what is the basis of the love affair between Barack Obama and the Iranians? Why is Obama enabling the Iranians to arm themselves? Imagine what happens when these S-300 systems, as we previously asserted, are deployed to Syria providing cover for Iran’s Quds Force and Hezbollah along the Golan Heights? Yeah, sure, Obama supports Israel.
Obama never sought to end Iran’s nuclear pursuits; he just wanted to slow its attainment down a bit, supposedly by fifteen years. But that’s certainly not the case. If any American combat pilots are shot down by an Iranian S-300, the blood will be on Obama’s hands. However, he’ll be out of office, playing golf, and pulling down taxpayer-funded compensation for the rest of his life.
“Iran’s top authority Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that the country’s military power was for defensive purposes. “The S-300 system is a defense system not an assault one, but the Americans did their utmost to prevent Iran from getting it,” Khamenei said in a speech broadcast live on state TV.”
Defense from what, pigeons? Deploying the system at an underground nuclear facility tells it all. History has a very astute way of repeating itself. When Chamberlain returned from the Munich Accords with his signed document from Hitler, Winston Churchill stated, “You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor and you will have war.”
And those who fail to learn from history, are fatefully doomed to repeat it.
