The holy month of Ramadan began June 5th and lasts until July 5th this year. It’s no coincidence the Orlando attack occurred when it did.
Last month, the Islamic State released a 31-minute long audio screed calling for more jihadist attacks during Ramadan, as the Huffington Post reported.
“Make it, Allah permitting, a month of hurt on the infidels everywhere,” said Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, a spokesman for the Islamic State, in his annual speech.
The U.S. State Department issued a memo Americans traveling abroad to stay vigilant against the potential “lone-wolf” attacks encouraged by the Islamic State. It warned that “martyrdom during the month may hold a special allure to some,” in a report released shortly after Al-Adnani’s address.
A “lone wolf” in Paris apparently felt that allure as well, as he stabbed a policeman and his wife to death earlier this week.
Yesterday, we reported that officials say ISIS terror units from Syria are on their way to France and Belgium with plans to carry out attacks in the coming weeks.
And here on our shores, the threats continue.
The Daily Mail reports, The FBI is investigating a threatening message posted on Craigslist that praised the deadly shooting rampage at a gay nightclub in Orlando.
The sickening post, titled ‘We need more Orlando’s [sic],’ was uploaded in the men-seeking-men section of the San Diego personal ads.
In the message, the user says, ‘San Diego you are next’, and urges others to: ‘Cleanse your community of the filth that gives decent gay men and women a bad name.’
It also claims that the terrorist attack carried out by ISIS sympathizer Omar Mateen at Pulse nightclub was ‘long overdue’ and described the 49 victims as ‘walking diseases, bug chasers’.
Darrell Foxworth, a spokesman for the FBI, confirmed the agency was looking into the post and attempting to identify the person responsible.
Local Orlando broadcaster KGTV reported that the message had been posted.
A viewer took a screenshot of the message, which included a picture of a revolver being fired, and sent it to the news outlet before it was flagged and removed from the website.
The post says ‘Orlando was long overdue. Cleanse your community of the filth that gives decent gay men and women a bad name. Those people were walking diseases, bug chasers, and thank god for AIDS and 9-11 and now Orlando. San Diego you are next.’
You can see it here.
But that’s not the only threat.
In Houston, police said on Wednesday they were investigating a threat made on Twitter of a mass shooting against the city’s Gay Pride parade, scheduled for June 25.
The threat was made on Monday, police said, though there were no plans to cancel the event.
War has been declared on all of us in the West, straight or gay. These are scary times indeed. Stay vigilant. And stay armed.
