The scramble to blame the Orlando Pulse nightclub shootings on anything except Islam has already begun. The senior Imam of the Islamic Society of Central Florida blamed “mass shootings” for the tragedy — which would be like me reporting on a stabbing and blaming it on stabbings. Yes, we know the end result; it’s the motivation that we want to learn.
The shooter’s own father has chimed in, and has managed to simultaneously deny and confirm his motive.
HotAir reports: The press has located and spoken to the shooter’s father who has a rather incredible reaction. According to NBC News, Mir Seddiqui (or Seddique) is claiming that of course this has nothing to do with religion and that his son was just really upset over seeing two men kissing.
Mir Seddique, Mateen’s father told NBC News, “this has nothing to do with religion.” Seddique said his son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a couple of months ago and thinks that may be related to the shooting. “We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident. We weren’t aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country,” Seddique said.
The shooter has already been confirmed to be Muslim — does one really have to explain what the Quran says about homosexuality? And by the way — this guy hasn’t seen a gay couple in his nearly thirty years of life, living in Florida?
In what way could this not have to do with Islam? Perhaps because he didn’t follow the Quran’s instructions to toss homosexuals off the tallest buildings available or stone them instead of shooting them? I wish I was mentally strong enough to perform the kind of mental gymnastics liberals are able to.
