Trafficking women and children for sexual exploitation is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world. At least 20.9 million adults and children are bought and sold worldwide into commercial sexual servitude, forced labor and bonded labor. Tragically, about 2 million children are exploited every year in the global commercial sex trade.
During a one-year period at the Department of Homeland Security in the sex trafficking division, guess how many sex traffickers were caught and put away. EIGHT. Pretty dismal record, eh? But that’s government for you.
Now I bring this up because last night I was invited to attend a screening of a film called “The Abolitionists” and it was one of those experiences I’ll never forget, and inspired me to do something.
The film is about the incredible organization Operation Underground Railroad and its CEO and Founder, former CIA and Homeland Security agent, Tim Ballard.
Here is a faith-based organization following in the footsteps of Harriet Beecher Stowe and Harriet Tubman seeking to liberate children from the heinous practice of child sex trafficking and slavery. Here’s a little clip of just one rescue mission.
The new film actually takes you on three rescue operations by O.U.R. — a privately-run organization not tied to any government bureaucracy – no surprise they’re making things happen. For comparison, in two-and-a-half years Operation Underground Railroad has saved or rescued 530 children and enabled 200 child sex traffickers to be jailed. Compare that to the Department of Homeland Security’s figure of eight. Kinda have to tell you, I prefer the former organization, not the latter. And what just touched my heart was the constant prayer Tim’s team does on the missions detailed in this film.
At a time when we can certainly agree America’s foreign policy is nonexistent and our regard and respect on the global stage is laughable — Tim and his crew are building lasting relationships. That’s something you’ll see in the film, “The Abolitionists.” Furthermore, the real topping on this cake is Tim’s utilization of our former Special Operators and Law Enforcement agents on his Rescue Teams as extraction experts. I cannot think of anything better for our former Warriors than to live up to the motto of the U.S. Army Green Beret, De Oppresso Liber — to liberate the oppressed. If there’s one thing that should be a bipartisan endeavor, it would be a crusade to end child sex trafficking and sex slavery.
Time says today, two million children worldwide live as sex slaves. Seventy-three million children under the age of twelve are forced laborers. How do we end this? We can join up and support Operation Underground Railroad and become the new 21st Century Abolitionists, I have.
Here’s Tim’s three point plan:
– We rescue the children and take them to safe havens for rehabilitation.
– We go after ringleaders and break up organizations.
This is what we need, to go on offense and not constrain ourselves with bureaucratic nonsense. In Tim’s own words, “If my team and I don’t find these kids, no one is going to. It is our job. We have to do something.”
Tim Ballard has dedicated his life, full time, to abolishing the sexual tourism industry and child slavery. He has successfully dismantled these child trafficking organizations, saving children. Tim, I am on board with you, and I’m gonna find a venue for you to present your film in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Hey folks, let’s make this happen, we can send a message to these vile and despicable pieces of filth who are robbing our children of their innocence. As Dad for two daughters, I can tell you these vermin deserve no mercy, and there’s a very special place in hell for these animals who sexually exploit kids. I wish this were something being discussed during this current election cycle…I can’t think of a more noble cause.
