GIMME: $15 minimum wage wasn’t enough; here’s what ELSE libs want…

I used to ask my liberal friends “if a $10 minimum wage is so great, why not $15 an hour, or $20 an hour, or $100 an hour?”

I thought this would get across the point that at some point a high enough minimum wage will cost jobs. But instead, those of us making this argument apparently managed to just give them a few crazy new ideas.

When the union leader Samuel Gompers was asked what organized labor wanted, he famously replied “more!” When it comes to fighting for higher wages, the Fight for Fifteen doesn’t just want $15 an hour, they also want more.

The leader of a group fighting to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour revealed she actually wants an increase that goes much higher, according to a video released Wednesday.

Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC) has done a lot to advocate for the $15 minimum wage. It is one of many union-funded groups that has pushed for the policy both locally and nationally. ROC Founder Saru Jayaraman told a small group April 28 in North Carolina that $15 is not enough, and advocates should be looking to go much higher.

“If you are taking into account child care and transportation and everything that people need to live,” Jayaraman said in the video, which was provided to The Daily Caller News Foundation. “You are talking much higher $17, $21. So $15 is not a livable wage and I don’t think anyone, I hope no one is claiming that it is. I wouldn’t think that it is even here in North Carolina.”

While there have been multiple victories nationwide, with over a dozen cities signing $15 minimum wage ordinances into effect, none have officially phased it in fully. They’ve practically gotten what they wanted, and it’s already not enough. Typical.
