Wow: Could Google data predict UPSET in NY tonight?

The latest polls show Hillary Clinton with an 11.7% double-digit lead over rival Bernie Sanders, leading many to expect victory for Hillary tonight.

If Google search data from the past 24 hours is any indication, however, it could be cause for concern for the Queen.

If New York’s Democratic presidential primary were being decided on the basis of Google searches, Bernie Sanders would be the runaway favorite.

According to the search company, search interest in the Vermont senator has spiked in the last 24 hours, outpacing rival Hillary Clinton in the run-up to Tuesday’s critical contest.

Sixty-two percent of all searches for Democratic candidates in New York were for Sanders, and 38 percent of New Yorkers searched for Clinton.

Additionally, more people searched “How to vote for Bernie Sanders” in the last 24 hours than made similar searches about Clinton, according to Google.

You may recall polls suggested a double-digit lead for Hillary going into the Michigan primary, but Bernie ultimately pulling off an upset with a margin of 1.5%. Which reminds us that polls are just that — polls — and anything can happen come election day.
